Sig 226 elite 9mm. Good gun or no?
I'm about to purchase a Sig 226 elite and was wondering if any of you guys have any thoughts on them. I know a lot of agencies carried them so I'm sure someone has an opinion. I'm getting it at almost cost which is 800.

I can't address the potential price for you, I just don't know enough about that, but...
You will love this gun. It has replaced [gasp!] my SW 5906TSW as my preferred carry gun.
Fit and finish are wonderful, gun is solid and dense. I have had one FTF with it, but that was due to a factory-dented Federal round.
It is extremely accurate, and meets one of my requirements...an adjustable sight system. [I use adjustables on every handgun I own, I want the sight picture to be as close as possible from one gun to the next.]
It's also easy to find all the accessories you need, i.e. holsters, magazines, etc..
I'm a real fan. The 226 PE was the first Sig I bought, but not the last. Other than the fact that it's a bit more expensive than the average semi-auto out there, I feel it was worth every penny.
I did customize it just a bit and put a Hogue machined aluminum/checkered/matte black grip/stock on it. It almost sticks to your hand, and has a very solid grippy feel.
Trying to pick between the Sigs and the SW 3rd gens is, for me, liking trying to pick a favorite kid!

You're good to go.
I don't have any experience with the Elite model, but I love my P226R Navy. Of course, I also love my P225, my P228, my P220, my other P220 and my P245. I could be slightly biased.

No exp with the 226, but I have a 9mm 229 that I have fired maybe 25k rounds through without any problems at all.

I have it in .40 - and it is one of the most accurate guns I own - that's a great price - it cost me about $200 more than that, but I'm not complaining:

I don't have a p226, but an early p228. It was my 1st handgun purchase, and have no plans to let it go. One of the best semi-autos I've ever shot, and fits my hand perfect. I know back then their stuff was top notch, and I believe it still is?

It says a lot about this sig seeing how I'm asking this question on a SW Forum!

I carried a Sig P220 from 1986-2000 as it was my dept. issued weapon. I used it in two combat situations on the job, and it performed as it should. Cops 2 ***'s 0 When I went to Detectives, I was issued a P228 and I loved it. Sig is expensive, but I think it is the best in all respects. In semi-autos, Sig is all that I would carry, and I have sent my P228 to Sig and had it all "enhanced" with all the fancy nickle stuff & night sights including 8 stainless H/Cap. Mags. Wheel guns? S&W all the way!!!!

Yes, I does. The majority of my guns are S&W's and Sigs. Sig and HK are making the best high end semi-autos/non 1911's there are today. HK however, overprices their products IMO.
I have multiple Sigs, all are on my will not sell or trade list.
