Default Old gun ads

Howdy,
Dave Lapell's thread on old gun ads made me think.
There were a lot of interesting ads around over the years.
Cheeseburger revolvers, men in duck blinds in tuxedos, monkey mayhem in South America.
I bet a bunch of you can dig out those old magazines and find some gun related ad to post here.
Here is where we are heading. (Circa 1963)

Let's have a little fun!
Mike

I like nostalgic ads, and recall that Ruger/gorilla one well.
Today, it'd be non-PC, but I like the raw jungle adventure aspect.

I thought at the time that a Ruger .44 carbine was an odd choice, but it certainly worked, and would have been handy to carry. I think another ad mentioned that Frank Delano also carried a Super Blackhawk.

Hmmm...I need to remember this the next time we have a topic about guns to protect against Bigfoot.

Can someone post the S&W ad comparing the M-686 to the Ruger GP-100 and hamburgers and shakes? I met the S&W PR lady who composed that ad, and she seemed bright and witty. Dang...now I want a chili cheeseburger and a chocolate shake!

I also liked the first ads for the Model 60. It was certainly about time that a good stainless gun appeared.

Does anyone recall the Winchester ads featuring professional hunter David Ommaney? They appeared when the revised Model 70 was being widely reviled, somewhat justly so. It is now perhaps the best M-70 yet, but that took some more revisions.

Anyway, the hunter was later badly mauled by a leopard. He survived, but it was a tragic thing to have happen, and he was a mess. It's a good thing we have antibiotics. At one tme, a mauling like that would have probably been fatal, if only due to infection.

Winchester advertised then that The Barrel Floats, But The Bullet Doesn't.

Hi Tex,
I have one of those in front of me. "Our man in Africa" This one is O'mmannay and the 1400 shot gun
My wife is bossing me around (I deserve it) but I'll try to get a picture up this evening.
I'm behind on my chores and need to get caught up.
Thanks
Mike
Mary was wanting me to bath and trim up the dog. She just took him out for a walk. Frees me up.

Thanks

Default A couple more

Here are a couple more.
This one is a neat ad.
Probably wont see it again.

And then there is the High Standard dude in the tux. This ran for years.
They always make fun of June Cleaver for wearing a dress and pearls around the house. This guys duck blind garb comes from "After six"
Here you go.(1966)

Thanks
Mike

I have a whole 3 ring binder of ads at the house (at my mother's for the moment). I have several Mossberg ads with Robert Stack, a Weatherby ad with John Wayne, Charles Daly with Slim Pickens, and dozens of others. I love alot of ads with game animals that look like a painted picture with the bright colors. I have the Ruger gorilla ad above, and several introducing new models and calibers like the Smith 57 and the .41 Magnum, the Ruger 10-22, the Colt AR-15, and quite a few more. I have a few newer ones featuring Jerry Miculek, Ted Nugent, and several law enforcement gun ads over the years. They are alot fun to collect.
