golf ball air cannons
anybody out there wanna consistently shoot a golf ball well over 1/2 a mile? there is a website, americanaircannons.com. they have many crazy machines.
who else out there has any other crazy ideas that are so fun that they might be illegal. like an rc airplane that shoots paintballs. one game i play, realflight g5.5, i have a p-51 mustang that shoots them 100 rps and the muzzle velocity is 3200 fps. it holds 50,000 of them and i wish i could do that for real. who has an insane idea?

fun/bad ideas
that air cannon website also has one that shoots beer bottles over 150 yards.
how about an rc airplane that drops a bomb-shell filled with a bunch of those crackle-things that people use on July 4th by throwing them on the ground and exploding them. that would be fun but possibly illegal

That air cannon sounds like an upgraded pneumatic potato gun. Shooting a golfball 1/2 mile with compressed air is going to be loud. Probably sounds like a shotgun when it goes off.
An air powered potato gun I have shot puts spuds on target @ about 150 yds. Not real loud at just 135 psi for the charge chamber, but you know it when you hit the switch.
Mounted on a simple gun carriage, with iron sights, ranging shots by bracketing and halving , and you can really plaster something till you run out of spuds.

Don't be a fool, of course its illegal. There's a simple test, is it fun? If yes, then its illegal. If its not fun, who cares.
I'd suggest you read Kirby in the Salt Lake Tribune. He loves to blow stuff up. But he's one of those authorities on illegal. Nearly everything he likes is illegal, or will get him killed by his wife (the same as illegal.)

I have a design for an exploding blowgun dart that detonates after penetration rather than on impact. Probably illegal and way to dangerous to mess with. I can only imagine what it would to a watermelon!

Here is a video of me shooting an Enfield grenade launcher with tennis balls. You need to watch it in full screen mode to see the tennis ball bounce at the end.
