Which is more accurate, .38 special or .357?
Does the model 14 (K-38), .38 special ammo only, give better accuracy than the model 27 or 28 with .357 ammo? On another site someone asked about shooting .38s in a .357 if it would give worse accuracy. What do YOU think?

99.99% of us probably can't shoot well enough to tell the difference.
I would have to say that probably the K-38 is more accurate, but is strictly guessing on my part.

In terms of accuracy, the .357 Magnum has at least the same potential for precision shooting as the benchmark .38 Special wadcutter round—

accuracy depends on the individual gun and a number of variables; to state a particular model is more or less accurate than an other is debatable.
as to 38 in a 357 read the following

I would tend to say that a .38 special (in a .38 Special ONLY Revolver) more than likely has an edge over a .38 Special out of a .357 cylinder.
I would also say that most shooters (regardless of the revolver itself) would tend to shoot better groups with a .38 Special due to the mild recoil, lower noise and less flash.
That said, I have shot and seen very tight and accurate groups shot with full power .357 Magnums, so the determining factor would more than likely be the shooter himself.

I usually have at least one flier to screw up the group in either caliber.

Reduced recoil and boom usually results in better accuracy. More of a human factor than a caliber issue. You would need a padded vice type pistol rest to be sure.

Thanks. Speaking of groups, it has always been a pet peeve of mine to always see a 5 shot group and almost never 6 inch groups shown. My theory is one chamber could always be a little less accurate than the other 5. When I try out my revolvers I ALWAYS try all six chambers even on my old single actions.

Beats the Hell out of me.I've tried all loads in both calibers, some days I think I've found the right load to shoot with both but found out I was wrong. Both are my favorite calibers but in some guns aren't worth a hoot. Don't tell me about factory loads, I never shoot them.
