All time favorite a small brand from the Bahamas called Graycliff. Typically smoke Romeo y Julietta or Upmann.
Backwoods Honey Berry are also on the menu.

Always been a Skoal/Beechnut type, but for about 10yrs along in the late '80's, early 90's I went to smoking cigars. Used to buy them by the box and keep them in the glovebox of my car. So many guys would want one that I finally settled on El Verso Bouquets. Short, black, stinking things, but noboddy wanted one! Developed a liking for them to this day.

My Dad used to smoke and chew Phillies and Factory Seconds.
When I smoked, Crooks, or Tijuana Smalls. I wasn't very sophisticated back then thirty some years ago.

The one I had in MY mouth when I had my last heart- attack! When they got me to the fit-it center, the first thing they asked was if I smoked? I told the Doc that I quit, He asked for how long I'd been smoke free, I looked at my watch and said "It look's to be about 45 minutes ago" the whole darn place went up in laughter! It's been 4 years, Damn I miss cigars.

It's good for dessert...

Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur and Rocky Patel Maduro. Onyx are good smokes for the money too. All need a good Scotch to savor along with the smoke!

"It's a Boy!"
I got one this week from a pal. It was blue bubble gum.
I still have gum in my mustache and suddenly I know why my teeth hurt.
Dang, It was good.

I enjoy cigars. Generally, i'll have one during the week and one on Friday or on Saturday.
Sometimes, i'll have one on Sunday, but not often. Thus, i'll usually have 2-3 cigars a week.
I have had just about all the brands mentioned so far, and a lot of them I enjoy.
I like Thompson cigars; inch diameter or there abouts.
Once in awhile, I will have a chocolate Black and Mild which is nice.
I quit smoking cigarettes awhile ago, didn't smoke too much maybe 3 packs a week.
I know cigars are not a safe alternative necessarily, but i'll tell ya, I enjoy them more, feel better, and now understand what a literal "nail in the coffin" cigarettes are.

Like the RP EDGE as well...Maduros. Four or five years back I bought two 100 cigar boxes for $350 or so. Still have 2/3 of the last one in the humidor.
But probably my go to is a PADRON. And on special occasions their 1926 or 1964 Anniversary edition.
So many good sticks out there.

For the golf course, I like the Sancho Panza Double Maduro in Cervantes size.
With a glass of small batch bourbon, neat, an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic or a La Aurora Preferido #1 would be my smoke of choice. A little pricier, but both are great smokes.
And then every once in a long while, a Padron 1964 Anniversario in the Imperial size will find its way out of my humi and into my hand.
Life is good.

Some favorites of mine, in no particular order:
A&J corona en cedro (only if cuban, and aged in my humidor for 2+years)
Partagas Serie D #4 (cuban)
Rocky Edge corojo
La Gloria Serie R Belicoso
Oliva Serie V (any size or shape)
Anything in the humidor that's been there long enough to get some plume.

I'll go for a Short Story any day. Love those tasty little morsels!
I used to sell wholesale cigars and smoked them daily. Over the years, I found that I simply ran into time constraints that prevented me from enjoying most of the regular sized cigars. So Short Story or the Best Seller became favorites of mine as their size is conducive to not taking hours to finish.

I don't smoke anymore but when I did I loved the Macanudo Diplomatat in the robust line. I also liked the Punch -can't remember the name but it was about 4.5" with a 49 ring size. Oh and lets not forget the Hemmingway.

I almost bought a small wine cooler to use as a humidor a couple of weeks ago, but for some reason passed on it. Silly me.
Back to the original topic.
H. Upmann are my over all favorites, just about any blend actually.
The Rocky Patel Edge is great if I want something a bit "meatier". The RP Connecticut if I want something lighter and a bit less expensive than an Upmann. (If I can find them on sale)
I'm going to name two others that most people probably haven't heard of. I have a fondness for dual wrapper cigars aka "Barber Pole" cigars. The two I've found are rolled in the US of imported tobaccos.
Don Francisco is made in East. Brunswick, NJ. Yes, New Jersey. The guy who owns the shop started it as a hobby, hired experienced Dominican trained rollers and makes his own brand. He also sells other brands as well. Being NJ, they are pricey, but worth is. If you mail order them, they are cheaper than picking them up in the store. I won't include the web link, but you can find it easily enough.
Bobalu Cigars are made in Austin, TX. A milder smoke than the Don Francisco, their dual wrap is a great evening smoke. You can mail order as well, and they have a Buyer's Club for an annual fee. That allows you to buy two cigars for the price of one and get discount on whole box purchases (minus the box).
For drinks to go with the cigars I prefer single malts. The McCallan 12 is fine, 15 is better. Not that Cask Strength is anything to turn your nose up at. Lately, I've taken to liking Balvenie, either Double Wood or Caribbean Cask.

Arturo Fuente Hemmingway, Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur, or most "good" 6", 46 to 50 ring imported models. Since I only partake a couple times a year now, I don't mind spending a few $ for a good one. But, agree on the "enjoy with a 16 to 21 yr old single malt".

Dunhill Peravia...unless on the golf course where I have a tendency to leave them on the back of the cart...then on the turf...as I drive off.
I am not a cigar snob...will happily smoke anything with a band on it. I do try to enjoy special smokes for special occasions, however. A Dunhill is always special.
Be safe.

I sure do miss cigars.. My problem is I'm too addictive/compulsive whatever term you want to use. I started cigars a few years ago to help me kick Copenhagen. When I was smoking, I started planning my life around when I can smoke the next one...was up to 3-4 per day and it sorta defeated the whole "relaxing" thing, plus it was damned expensive at $8-10 a pop. If I could do like most guys and just smoke a few per week I'd love it but I guess I can't. I was a Torpedo guy when I was at it. Now I'm back on the Copenhagen so the vices continue!

Arturo Fuente Cubanitos. Mild and smooth flavored and a nice size large cigarette/cigarillo size. I don't need to compensate with the size of my cigar for quality.
Cognac, rum, bourbon, or scotch multiple dipped cigars from shop rolled cigars in the French Quarter.

I do not need a cigar to go with a glass of fine red wine in the evening, perhaps an Haut-Gravet San-Emilion Grand Cru (high end Bordeaux).
|
To each his own, as long as you don't try to tell me i CAN'T!
ahem
I also like the Fuentes' and the RP's. Add a few Gran Habanos and one i tried today, Triple 7 from Zero.
With The Glenlivet or a single malt Jamesons...

Before I was diagnosed with asthma I enjoyed most of the brands listed above. That said, my personal favorite smoke was a double corona Savinelli ELR. Since then my wife has allowed me roughly one or two cigars a year now, my last one smoked at my sons wedding last October. I bought cigars for my son, his groomsmen, his future father in law and myself. The wedding and the reception were held outside so we were able to pertake after the ceremony. Watching some of these young guys figuring out how to cut the tip, and light the cigar, and keep it lit was worth the price of admission alone. Long ashes to you all!

Smoked a couple today watching the Euro 2012 at my local shop with about 10 of my closest friends. Had a Perdomo Champaign, one of the few medium bodied Conn Shades out there, followed by an Oliva V, about the fullest bodied one in their line.

Usually I like the ones that don't explode.
I have some Honduran and Dominican favorites I keep at the duck camp
to smoke on late October and November evenings along with some Remy Martin XO in a crystal snifter.

I love trying different cigars and my favorites vary except for the Padilla Miami and the Ashton Classic. I usually try to have one or both on hand.
For an every day smoke I like the Gran Habano #5 and the Oliva G.

I'm probably in a minority, but I've always preferred dry cures. My favorite is the Villiger Export. Nice little cigar if you get a chance to try it.
