Default Gun buying is over for a little while

I've been a police officer for a small department for 14 years. It just became official, the end of September is my last day. The city has been in the layoff business for 3 or 4 years now and I have survived two cuts so far. It's kind-a sad.

Since it hasn't been a secret, I'm well prepared. But, I'm going to be jobless for a little while.

The hard part was having to go to my LGS and cancelling my lay-away on a very nice 4" model 19. I found it a couple of months ago and was taking my time paying it off. The store owner was very good to me and just returned what I had paid on the gun. I had to promise to buy it if he still had it when I returned to world of the employed.

We'll see how that works out.

It's a sad thing to say, but given the state of the world, there is a shortage of good officers and the need for them is high. You may not be able to stay local if you live in a depressed area, but if you keep your skill sets current and get some more college under your belt while you are awaiting your next duty station, I'm sure you will find work in your field soon.

Best of luck and stay in touch....

Drew

If you care to move a few miles south, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is taking applicants. My nephew is waiting for word on whether he will make the next class.

Sorry to hear that. It seems LE is under fire here in Michigan of late. Good luck with the search.

There is a lot of it about. My company let me go because the contracts we are waiting for are held up somewhere in the government.
