Red face $10 irritation........All better now with a little fun...:)

Life could be MUCH worse. That being said, I go to the range with my four day old Butler Creek flip-up scope covers on my new scope-rifle combo. The sun pops and we complain that the sights will "move" with the sun. To our good fortune, the sun fades behind a few clouds..................and the monsoon begins. I don't mean a little rain, I mean a a real gully washer. We shoot anyway before the targets drown or float away. As it is raining sideways, we pull the range tables to an area to minimize the effects of "Tropical Storm Birchwood". I use the flip-ups on the scope for the fourth time and it flaps open and bounces with a weird sound. Upon closer inspection, the little cover hinge is cracked on the front cover. Needless to say, one more gentle opening and it flopped off. It's only ten bucks, But SERIOUSLY??!! I remember they used to be more pliable. They seem to be made with more plastic now. Glad I didn't try it at -10F twenty miles from the lodge on the sno-go. Guess I'll go in to the LGS and whine tomorrow and see if I get a "quality" replacement. Griping is over...........

Me too. The last two I've bought have done the same thing within weeks of purchase. I've been using them for at least 20 years, but I'll be looking for something different now.

Well, I just got back from the LGS. They commented on the rifle and asked if they could handle it. "Sure", I says......."and you should see the clarity of that new Zeiss scope." 'Bout that time the front scope cover falls to the floor. I acted all offended at my cover laying there and asked him what happened. He told me with great conviction that he only tried to open the darn thing!! I said "Me too!!" He got a smile back and told me to go get another one.......
