I switched to a Mac two years ago. Decided not to take any of the offered classes and the transition was much easier than I expected. If you have a friend you can call with a couple of questions, it's a breeze.

Had been using Windows since forever and was quite satisfied using XP. A couple years ago the wife wanted a new laptop and decided to get a MacBook Pro. I put up a bit of a protest due to price (over twice the price of a comparable Windows machine), but of course lost the debate. Anyway... the wife took to Apple like a duck to water. She learned to do more things with her MacBook Pro in a month or two than she had while using Windows for 20 years. Subsequently, we have purchased a 27' iMac, iPad, two iPhones and two Apple TVs. The switch to Apple was easy and fun.

It's not difficult to learn.
Big thing is the control and command buttons, once you learn how to use them you're good.

+1 ^^^

Absolutely the easiest OS to use, very intuitive and REASONABLY priced updates.

In my 4 plus years since switching to Mac OS, I have yet to encounter a virus.

Go for it!

Bought an ipad a few years ago and my laptop became a radio. My kids were using apple products starting in grade school and bought their own when they could afford it.I think they're very easy and intuitive to use.
