I'm a huge fan of the show 24, and in season one he takes a Microtech Halo away from a terrorist. I'd never heard of that knife, but I Googled it.The one he took, and he also has one of his own, costs $550! If that's not bad enough, the new one is $1,350!
Just curious if anybody here has one.
Suckers look wicked cool.

I have 4 Microtech Halo IIIs, one with a Damascus blade. I never watched 24, though. I had mine for years before that.

I love my Microtechs. I was never all that enamored of the looks of the Halo I or II, but I love the Halo III. I also have an Exodus, and 4 Ultratech UT-6s. As a "user" knife, I prefer the UT-6, because it not only extends automatically but it also retracts automatically.

Anyone who has an interest in high quality OTF automatic knives should look at Microtech.

+1 for Microtech! I have several and love all of 'em. Not cheap, but worth the money IMO.

I looked on Youtube and the new one has a handle in the butt that you pull the blade back in with. That looks kinda weird. The older one retracts automatically, as Bullzaye noted.
I gotta get one of these.
'Course if I do, Missus P&R Fan will use it on me when she finds out how much it costs.
I better stick with my Spyderco for now.

I'm afraid you may have misunderstood what I was saying. The Halos (I, II, III, & V [can't seem to find if there was ever a Halo IV] as well as the Exodus and Nemesis series) all have to have the blade manually retracted via a "charging handle" type of device.

The Ultratech, Makora, Scarab & Troodon series are all "dual action", they both extend and retract automatically with the flick of the switch.

Me! Me!

Huge fan of 24!

MT Halos are prominent in the following seasons of 24:

Season 1: Jack disarms a man claiming to be "just an ordinary business man" in the back of his limo, saying, "Just an ordinary businessman with a Microtech Halo in the back of his limousine?"

Season 4: When rescuing the Sec Def and his daughter, Audrey, who had been kidnapped by terrorists, Audrey, in a choke hold with a terrorist's gun to her head, uses a Microtech Halo that Jack had slipped to her to knife one of her captors.

Season 5: At President Logan's California retreat, Jack holds Walt Cummings in a choke hold, Microtech Halo in hand, threatening to cut out Cummings's eye to force Cummings (who was working with terrorists) to confess what he knows about the location of the Sentox VX nerve gas cannisters.

While watching that episode of Season 4, I went online and bought myself a Microtech Halo V.

As of September 15, 2015, the current law making the knife illegal in my state will be repealed.
