Default How Do I Remove This Win. 94 Sling Swivel?

I just picked up this 1955 30-30 and want the sling swivel off. The front sling swivel looks like it could have just been pushed on to the mag. tube but there are no scratches on the tube. It is a solid piece that once the bottom screw and swivel itself is off, the part around the tube stays on. I can't see it coming off past the front sight after partial diamantling the tube. Is it just supposed to pop off with a little force, possibly a padded heavy screw driver under it? It is very loose when the screw and swivel is off and the two curved sides just pass the radius of the tube, but doesn't easily pop off. Thanks for any advice.

Take the magazine tube off, then slide it down and off.

I'll probably sleep on the couch with it tonight. I like this little gun. I pulled the front barrel band screw and the mag. end screw but the magazine didn't budge. But I just tested it without forcing anything. I've might have been going about it wrong.

You have to take off both bands, the barrel band and the one on the fore end stock.

Take the end cap screw off and remove the end cap.
Careful when doing so as the mag spring is compressed underneath it.

Pull the mag spring out and dump the mag follower out.

Remove the front band screw.
Remove the forend band screw.
Leave the forend band in place around the forend wood itself. No need to pull that off.

Slide the magazine tube forward carefully far enough to clear the forend wood.
The tube stays within the front band,,just slides forward thru it.

That will allow the unwanted sling ring to be slid backwards and off the tube.

Slide the mag tube back into the forend and seat it into the frame. Make sure the forend wood is seated tightly against the frame.

The tube must be in the same rotational position to allow the band screws to slightly intercept it as they pass by.
The end cap screw location helps position that at the 6 & 12 position for you.
Reinstall the band screws.
( Pushing a thin punch through the assembly(s) helps to line everything up before pushing the screw through and tightening it up.)

Drop the follower back down the tube.
Place the mag spring back into the tube and compress it so the end cap can be placed back into position.
Secure the end cap with it's screw.
Re-check the band screws and make sure they are tight.
** Quite often on '94's the forend band screw will have a slight bow to it. That is there from original assembly and helps keep the forend, band & tube tight. Don't be tempted to straighten it out to 'fix' it.**

Place the orphan sling swivel ring in the box marked 'swivels' on your bench.

That was a little vague, 2152hq. Can you get a little more specific? Just kidding! Thanks a lot. You can't get any clearer than that. I actually do have a cigar box full of swivels. I did loosen the forend band screw a little and noticed it was much tighter than the forward band screw. Unless it is just gunked up I wonder if this is due to that bowing. Anyway, thanks so much.
