I knew the man personally. This makes me very sad.
He was very good to me and other local LEO’s, and always welcomed me into his shop.
He was also good to the many alphabet agencies he supplied with small arms in our battles with terrorists and terrorists nations.
He started a multi million dollar business in his fathers garage.
The first time I was in his shop a few years ago it felt like being let into a secret James Bond testing grounds. Machine guns, letters on the wall from many military and alphabet agencies were everywhere. John took the time to personally show me around and take me into the walk in vault were the really good stuff was. He was extremely polite though I could tell he was very busy.
I was at his nondescript shop about two weeks ago. John was not there. Cheri made me a great deal on a stripped lower even though they are heavily backordered.
The more I think about it, I believe John changed the industry. He was the first to be successful at building a better AR, M4, etc than Colts.
I posted a photo of me there two weeks ago if anyone cares to search.
I just didn’t think this was the place to post a photo of me.
