Far from it. Biggest crowd I'd ever seen. Traffic backed up down Bagley Rd........all the way UP the freeway ramp! If you are familiar with the area you know that is serious.
When I finally did find a place to park I had no choice but to park far off on the grassy field of the fair grounds. I should have known better because Friday had lots of rain and the ground was very soft. I got stuck twice. On the second time my car sunk nearly to the frame.......I had to flag down a tow truck to pull me out. I sat to wait my turn........yes, There were a few tow trucks working the gun show parking lot today pulling folks out.
When I finally got towed out, I paid the guy. He warned me to stay off the grass and drive to the far end of the fairgrounds where the ground is packed solid with gravel. I found a spot. Then I walked over to the entrance gate, and all I could see was a mass of people. Some guy told me the waiting time just to pay admission into the show was about an hour at least. He was correct. The show was being held in three buildings, and ALL of them had huge lines just to get in.
I stood there covered in dirt with mud all over my jeans & shoes wondering what I should do. At this point, I had lost all interest in the show.
Screw it....I thought. I'm going home.........and just getting OUT of the fairgrounds took a while. Before going home I decided to stop at the Fin (Fin, Feather & Fur)......a local outfitters store down the road and even that place was a mad house. As filthy & dirty as I was I decided to go in to buy some ammo. Some karma came my way however, as I picked up the LAST bulk pack of .22LR in the store (American Eagle).....no kidding....the LAST box in the store.
Picked up a few other items as well.
As I stood there in the long check out line with mud all over me, more than a few folks smiled at me and said: "HEY! You just came from the show down the street, didn't you?"
I just politely nodded. Overall, a miserable morning today.
