Mag ban? Need verification
I was at the LGS today and talking to one of the clerks who is also a shooting buddy. We were talking about how crazy things were getting when he mentioned that beginning Feb 6, the feds have banned manufactuer of any new "high capacity" magazines. Anything over ten rounds. basicly, what's already out there is all there is and all there will be.
I DO NOT KNOW THIS FOR A FACT!
However, this is the largest gun shop for about 200 miles around. They do a huge business in ARs, AKs, M1As and the like. As a rule they pretty much stay on top of all laws and rules gun related. So I trust my source.
What I'm looking for here is verification of such a new law.
Has anyone else heard this?
Is there any proof that such a law now exists?

BS! So if a police dpt wanted extra mags they couldn't buy em?
They cant ban companies, some of whom arnt even in the US, from manufacturing anything, best they can do is ban us from buying /owning them.
He's either making stuff up or just getting his info from tinfoil hat wearers

Lautenberg/McCarthy introduced bills yesterday, not even to the senate floor yet. Don't think they would bother doing that if a ban was already in the works.

Very true, but they can ban importation of anything made outside the USA, which includes Glocks, Springfield XDs, AKs, Mec Gar magazines, Russian and Serbian ammunition etc. The precedent for doing this through EO was set under Bush the Elder in 1989 and Clinton in 1994. That's the primary reason that I paid $150 too much for a G17 last week. I already had 10 mags so I figured that I better get the proper firearm for them, though they do work in my G19 very well.

NY has passed stringent legislation limiting magazine capacity to 7 rounds, but didn't address the manufacture...just owning or using. So far nothing has been passed on a national level.
I think the government could indeed pass legislation making it illegal for companies to make or sell high capacity magazines in the USA. I'm not saying they will....if they pass anything regarding capacity limits, it will affect consumers and not manufacturers. Although, that could have an affect on manufacturers...if it is illegal to buy or own a product, how many companies will continue to make it? I guess they could for the overseas markets, but that may not be enough for certain companies whose market is mainly the USA.
For those who say the government can't prevent companies from making something...think about other outlawed products, like heroin for example. It is illegal to make, sell, own, and use heroin, right? So it can be done. (And no, I am not equating heroin to magazines...just making an example.)

Nope. He wasn't trying to sell me anything. He knows me well enough that if I want something, I'll ask him.
This shop has also NOT given into the price gouging.
I was just killing some time while my son had his car at the muffler shop next door.
Come to think of it, I may have asked my question the wrong way. Might not be a law at all. He said it was "The Feds" that had done this. No mention of any particular agency or a new law for that matter.
