Default Wash. DC gun crime.

On Fox just now Juan Williams, who lives in Wash. DC, said that even though DC has strictest gun control laws the crime there is because of all the guns flowing in from Virginia.
Well, if that is true, how come Virginia doesn't have the same shoot-em-up gun violence as DC?

So wait....

If something is done that doesn't work, it must be someone else's fault?

An often quoted statistic indicates that there are 100,000,000 firearms possessed by American citizens. By Juans definition, that is 100,000,000 crimes being committed. Idiot.

I heard yesterday that since the most recent election that an additional 69,000,000 firearms have been purchased, based on the number of background checks. Chock 69,000,000 up for the good guys!

Guns cause crime?? Well, it makes perfect sense to me.

While we're at it, let's outlaw spoons, too, because they made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

Or maybe we can outlaw pencils because they cause spelling errors.

Don't any of these people have any common sense? Of course, as I was told growing up...common sense is the least common of all the senses.

The same argument has been made by those in Chicago which is why they want gun bans in the cities/states around Chicago.

I heard somewhere that these areas with high gun crime, strict gun laws have been managed by democrats for decades. Correlation or coincidence?

I missed the chance of a lifetime back in 1984. My soon to be ex wife and daughter started off on a road trip around the united states. I gave them a weeks head start and caught a flight and met them in new orleans. (I was working around the clock on some very remote desert guarding something).
My ex was packing a snub for the long lonely drive. We drove to DC to see the sights. We toured the white house. As we were in line I seen the metal detectors and it jarred my memory. I whispered, "You aint packing, are you?" Oh my God yes! I had her palm me her snub and took it back to our vehicle and returned.
Had I known what was comeing down the following year I would have taken our daughter with me without asking her anything, went back to the motel and watched the show.
She might be getting out just about now.

Didn't D.C. replace Detroit as "Murder Capitol of the U.S." awhile back? Seem to recall but I might be wrong.

I think Chicago has it on sheer numbers, but it seems like I heard that New Orleans has a higher murder rate. I think the trend is troubling in Chicago also. I believe it is trending up.

A prof. at VCU recently published a report saying the in the last 6 years gun ownership here in VA is up 76% and gun violence has dropped by 24%. Ya think that has anything to do with it?

I grew up nearby and worked in and around DC....and still have family in MD and go there for business.

It was a discrace even back in the 80's.

I broke down once in NE DC late 70s or early 80s near RFK Stadium, and a black DC LEO picked me up and the first thing he said was said "lock your door" then asked if I was crazy walking around (looking for a phone). Less then two miles from the White House.
Second time coming back from deer hunting in VA in my early 20s, buddies car gets a flat, spare was flat so him and another friend started walking...left me in car on 295 in SE DC. Inside of ten minutes, had a car load pull up and start backing up real slow to his car, with me in it. You could tell they were up to no good so I loaded my old 30/30 Model 94 (all I could afford back then) and at the time honestly thought I would have to use it.

They left when they saw me sitting in the car back seat though.

One of my good friends still in area is retired DCPD and they had calls for full auto shooting, but they wouldnt go into certain areas of SE DC without their little armoured tactical vehicle.....gang members had full auto AKs and "LOVED" to shoot em. They would take over a corner washer dryer place and run all customers off..****ning everything.

That may be part of the problem...they buy these firearms because they see them glorified on TV and the movies, (macho image thing) never get a chance to shoot them properly in a city, so when given the chance, (booze or drugs doesnt help), they tend to go crazy.

The main problem may be a loss of respect for all things civilized, like human life....imo

Much of it depends on nothing more then how they are raised though....imo

Someone please help me understand this; What happened in Sandyhook was a tragic event. But, what's happening in Chicago is much worse! It's happening there everyday. Why is is our government so fixated on the Sandyhook tragedy, yet not much is said about Chicago, where gun laws are more strict there then anywhere in the US? Is it because a certain "someone" is from there?

Juan Williams had a brain-fart a year or so ago; changed where he works (or got fired) and I think changed his party; then he got on the anti-gun bandwagon and got a little nuts................I refuse to even listen to the man today.

Chicago is a set-up by the democrats!!

Did not the prez send his buddy, Rahm Emanuel, out there to become Mayor?? Yes he did.

Did not the Mayor asked gangster Louis Farrikhan to come to Chicago and assist him is getting the gang and gun problem under control?? Yes he did.

Did not the legislature (wholly owned by the Chicago democrats) present honest people from having access to firearms for their protection?? Yes it did.

Any more questions??

DC has more armed law enforcement officers per square mile than any other place in the country. Just think about the police department, all those federal agents, armed security, Park Police, Capitol Police, etc. Only the citizens and the crooks aren't armed. OH! I forgot that crooks don't obey laws. I escaped from DC 14 years ago and am sooooo glad!

Yes, I was correct, as are you, and you just made that point crystal clear! It all starts at the top! Thank you for clarifying that.

There are some bad places. Here's a screen shot of Violent Crime, Nonegligent Homicide and Murder rates per 100,000 population by what the FBI terms "Metropolitan Statistical Area" (MSA). These are sorted by declining rate of Negligent Homicide and Murder. A sample from a list of about 384 MSAs

Why? Because the sheeple that are the followers have blinders on and wouldn't know the truth if it came up and hit them in the face!

All you have to do is look at the elected leaders of DC and neighboring Prince George's County to understand the reason for the high crime there. The whole place is corrupt as the day is long.

Default Just went through an...........

Office Survival training seminar and one of the Instructors was a ret. DCPD Officer. He taught a block on weapon spotting and recovery and while he was a good Instructor, and a nice guy you could tell in the first few minutes he had never worked where there are good guys who carry guns also.
I don't think that concept entered his mind.

A list of those cities is like an A-list of economically devastated areas. No jobs, resources needed, resources not provided or unobtainable... High crime.

Perhaps most of them listed...but if someone cant find work in Baltimore area...they dont want to work.

Not teribly far to DC area too...many commute.

Here in NC their is a town just off one N/S Interstate that is a popular stopping point for drug mules carrying guns and drugs back from FL.

They buy cheap houses and have people on payroll (bad rural economy) like ladies and errand boys watching things until they stop and rest or kill a few days on return trip.

Local guys get mad since they steal their women, and gun violence is big even though its a small town around 13,000.

Heres the big problem, and one I have watched for years: NO FACTORIES JOBS LEFT ANYMORE!

A blue collar, low income person like a minority or white person could find a steady factory job within an hour from home about ANYWHERE down South.

They could work for 25-30 years, maybe have benefits and retire...maybe with a small pension perhaps.

Majority of these factories are GONE! Closed down and went offshore or down to Mexico.

*I use three rural minority guys for odd work from time to time, and they are 26 age range, never worked a steady job in their life....I asked about job opps and they said there are two factories left within an hour from their home in Eastern NC and one is a boat mfg barely holding on, but neither hire anyone.

Less Job opportunities drags more people into violence, as people get desperate....imo...
