International Assn. of Chief's of Police
The recent IACP magazine has several articles on how the IACP supports gun controls and works with the administration. One of the comments is that the IACP represents its members on that issue. As a long time member, I can tell you that in my experience the IACP has NEVER polled its membership on any issue. Their "representation" reflects what the top brass in Alexandria and what THEY think is good for the IACP. I know a number of members who support the 2A and believe that the anti-gun group is just wrong.
Just whistlin' in the wind.

Last good thing that came out of the IACP was the Chiefs Special . . . and that was well before I was born.

No surprise. They've been anti gun for decades. That's why I never joined up or went to any training they offered.

IACP is a coprophagous group of anti-gun politicians.

Chiefs are appointed by whatever party is in power at the time.
The policies of those Chiefs reflect the beliefs of those that appointed them.
You connect the dots.

They are also a collection of petty minded insecure power trippers as a rule, and I quote reading "Police Chief" in 1980 or so. I have scanned a few issues since and confirmed that they have little or nothing to offer to anyone.

+1
And NACOP (national) isn't far behind IMHO.
At the State level, OACP (Oklahoma) seems to be more gun friendly and more consistent with Okla LE rank & file.

You, sir, are correct. I dealt with many "administrators" that truly did not represent the rank and file of small-town or small-city chiefs. There seems to be a trend amongst those of higher political position via appointments to say just what the appointers want to hear, especially in those high-profile cities that we see in the news. I take what the international group says with a grain of salt and blow that to the wind. It is one of the many reasons I withdrew membership. It was a waste of money.

I know that organization inside out and they are a bunch of political opportunists with their finger in the wind for whatever federal grant money is out there. Their members bounce from one chief's job to another (I call them carpetbaggers) using the IACP support network. As an organization their only concern is feathering their own nest so don't expect them to have the slighest understanding of the street cops world.

To the OP, if you're paying dues to that organization you are part of the problem.
