What the heck is an oyster cocktail?
I'm reading an Ellery Queen book. Written in 1938. They're in LA. Someone suggests going to Al Levy's.
Hello Google. Al Levy. Big LA restauranteur. Got it. Invented the oyster cocktail.
So, tell me, Google, what is an oyster cocktail.
It wants to tell me about Prairie Oyster Cocktails. That ain't it.
It shows pictures of what looks like martinis with raw oysters in them. Maybe.
But - a shrimp cocktail ain't a martini with a raw shrimp in it. When you eat oysters, you dip 'em in cocktail sauce.
Goggle is not helping.
So maybe someone from LA knows?
