I have no pets that climb on the bed nor children. I have washed blankets when they get something spilled on them, but most of the time I just use the dryer on the medium setting for 20-30 minutes to get the dust out. What is your routine for blankets?

No, I would never be called a clean and neat freak.:D

Very diplomatic, Hillbilly77. :D Without getting into too many incriminating details, I will just say that I at least like to be sure to put them away clean. :)

Lol''' , OK' ... Some interesting subject matter here Steve*
Well, not as often as the sheets & pillow case's certainly.
My dogs are not allowed on the bed or couch.
Most certainly after a campout in the tent.
.. nothin' like the good old Smell Test' :)

Good luck in your quest*

The sheets get washed/changed every Sunday. The blanket every three months, unless it gets dirty. :D

My wife washes them every weekend.

During basic training, my flight washed sheets every Tuesday. Shudder.... Why do I remember that?

Perhaps I should add that I do wash the pillowcases and sheets most weeks. I say this just in case anybody is getting grossed out. :)

um, about once a month whether they need it or not. Sheets more frequently but blankets rarely get too much on them so less often.

Wool moths are our big worry, so I wash to kill the buggers before they hatch.

Steve what are these blankets made of ? I only ask because of past good and bad experiences.

Comforters, quilts, wool blankets go the the dry cleaners evry 6 months or so. Sheets and non-wool blankets get washed weekly.

Oh, dear, technical textile question. One I know was handmade using store bought yarn. I think the others are some kind of synthetic mix.

LVsteve,
The wife and i have 2 Dachsunds who think they are people and
must sleep with us. So the ball and chain washes the bedding
every week. Blankets/comforters get washed about every 3-4
weeks i'm guessing. Even though our "doxies" are short haired
miniatures they still lose some hair/shed a little.
Oh, one of them, "Country", snores just like an adult male person as well.

1. Take two poles, place them approximately 8 feet apart in the ground
2. Take some rope and stretch across the top of the poles, Secure to the poles.
3. Place blanket over the top of the stretched rope, equal sides draped over the rope.
4. Beat vigorously with large stick on both sides equally.

5. Return blanket to bed...:D

Suggestion: Place the side of the blanket you previously had down, now in the up side.....:cool:

Washing blankets is a PIA. Sheets washed weekly. Walmart blankets are $10. I throw them out in spring and buy new ones in the fall. No dogs on the bed. They are small and sleep in a large crate next to the bed. Stupid I guess but I live in a 70 year old house with bedrooms upstairs. If there's a fire I want to know where they're at immediately.

You are supposed to wash blankets? I thought you kept them until you can stand them upright against the wall. Then you burn them and go to Walmart for new ones.
