My Stupid May be about to show.
This won't take long. Yesterday I got the good news that I own nothing on taxes for 2012... and 2013. It appears that because I am not the boy wonder, I so overpaid my taxes that I can now take the money I'd normally be sending in as quarterly payments and put it... ah... somewhere else. So... yesterday I put the quarterly payment in the bank. And yesterday afternoon I dropped by a LGS where among all the assorted trinkets I chanced to see a little Beretta .380. It is such a pretty little thing. The trigger guard is not squared but is instead kind of sloped. I did some looking around and found a picture of it with the entry, "Beretta 84BB (earlier version with round trigger guard) - .380 AC." Finish is about 98 maybe even 99%. There is not box, etc. They want $599 before any dickering is done. And... there will be dickering done if I buy that pistol. You know! So... the big operative question occupying my mind this early AM is... is $599 the price for these little jewels today?

I'm going to hazard a guess
Prices are high now and Berettas aren't cheap by any means, but I think that what is essentially $600 for a used one is a premium price but not outrageous. However, it does sound like it's in really good shape. There should be some dickering room but be prepared if they stand firm. It sounds like you want it and are going for the dicker anyway.

Beretta 84's are a very nice quality firearm, take him down if you can.
I although would pay the price if I wanted it.
How many 84BB's have you come across in your travels?
Used Beretta's, do not last long in the display case at my LGS.

I am working with a steel, German PPKs that I've had for years. The advent of polymer 380's as pocket guns has forced the prices down on metal 380's. That being said, The heart wants what the heart wants! If you pay current "Top dollar" for it, you may never get your money back. I personally thing the asking price is $100 high as a pre-madness price, but in the madness who knows? and I think that is what your LGS is counting on. Ivan

That's about $250 more than I would pay for for a used Beretta 84. I shot my buddy's and it functioned just fine, but it did nothing to set my pulses racing.

Aloha,
That's about the going price on the Beretta forum.
I bought one for the Wife after we were married.
She loves it. Started her on Beretta 92s and 96.

IMO one of the best looking best functioning guns ever. I've had a couple along the way. I prefer the "hookless" trigger guard you describe. $400-$450 is what the market will bear around here. I bought one with one 13rd magazine for $350 in about 95% condition from a local GS 2 months ago. I traded it off pretty quickly as I found my stupid arthritic hands had real problems racking the slide. The single stack .380 Berettas are still commanding and getting $600 (again around here)

I've got a couple of the single stack Berettas in 380. They are great guns. The Mod 85 cost me around $500 while the Mod 86, the 380 with the tip-up barrel, ran a little over that. Both came with the Beretta blue case and cleaning tools. They are not I would consider conceal carry pocket guns compared to the other mini and micro 380s out today. Your price may be $100 high but you don't see them that often.

I love Berettas
I bought this one used in May 2008 for $139.00 and some change. No box, one magazine. My son pestered the living **** out of me and I gave it to him. This is a large gun, very similar in size to a S&W 3913. Here is a photo of it with a Walther PP and S&W 908.
