I remember very well when the picture of the late Evelyn McHale ran in Life. Made quite an impact on me--I was about ten.

Some of them need captions to explain them. Waterfall out of 3rd story windows can't be good.

I believe the waterfall out of the 3rd story window is illegal booze (from Prohibition days) being dumped.

Miss McHale's remains are in surprisingly good condition for having fallen 83 stories onto a limousine. Could this photo have been staged?

Life insisted it was not. Presumably the crush of the roof spread or cushioned the impact. I would have thought it would be much messier.
