Thoughts and prayers for healing for both the officer and the family of the victim. The officer's wound (transsected femoral artery, hip damage) sounds serious but survivable. It's not clear to me whether his hip will need replacement or can be returned to full function with physical therapy.
The party with the head wound, who is said to be tied to the young girl's death by DNA, is on his own.

Prayers sent for the officer and his family. May he have a speedy recovery. I can't say I have the same feeling for the other fellow.

I saw this here and watched for it on the news. Nope. Just Royal baby stuff and the uh, distinguished Anthony Weiner running for Mayor in NYC again being caught sending intimate tweets to ladies not his wife.
Nothing on the earthquakes in New Zealand and nothing on this wounded officer and the murdeed kid case.
Is this the case where someone killed a six-year-old and dumped her wrapped in a blanket or something? That was on the news a lot until Princess Kate went into labor.
Did the wounded officer shoot his attacker? That'd give him some satisfaction, I bet. But even if other officers or FBI agents shot the guy, the job got done.
I guess that when they get the future King named, we may start getting more local news.

Yes this is the case. They had forensic evidence that led them to this kid (17 years old) and he lives 2 houses away from the girls home.
The officer shot was the one who knocked on the door, the kid opened the door and shot him in the leg or lower body. Another officer standing a few feet away shot the kid in response.
Very sad to think a 17 year old could do something so sinister to a 6 year old.

Did the officer's finger get tired, sounds like at least a 10 round double tap to me.

No matter what age, I've seen on the news where younger kids have done this and gotten out of jail a few years later because crime was committed as a juvenile. If he dies at least he won't do it again after being paroled.
Heart felt sorrow for officers involved one for being shot the other for having to deal with the shooting.
Prayers and speedy recovery for shot officer, and prayers for full recovery both physical and mental for both.

Just heard it on the news, but the summary above was still better than what the NBC anchor said.
Thanks for posting.
Some 17-year-olds do awful things. Some are actually terrorists.
I wouldn't be too surprised if some of Lt. Calley's men who wasted that Viet village were just 17. But that was bad leadership.
