Anyone know much about these? I came up with one today and I'm trying to find out all I can, including current value.

I know they were made starting in the 1920s through about 1940 for the German military and police. Those earlier units came in wooden boxes and were often property marked by either the police agency or the Army.

Mine is one of the ones made and imported post-War (1950-60s). It is like new in a good condition green cardboard box, complete with manual and part list. Very cool item. I have found the basic info, but no luck with actual current value. I guess there aren't all that many floating around and they don't come up for sale that often. Simpson LTD has a couple on their site with asking prices of $695 and up, but I don't know if that is realistic or absurd.

Anyway...here it is:

As far as conversion kits I never seen one for a luger.

Erma did offer a complete 22cal luger. Stoeger did offer one too. I recently
purchased a stoeger luger in 22lr. I paid $400 for the stoeger.

I had one; they work and are accurate. I used standard velocity .22's. Was short of cash and sold it way back for $500 which was high dollar way back then. $695 or so would probably be about right nowadays. A lot of Luger collectors covet the ones from WW2.

Back in the 80's I traded 2 Coca Cola hats for mine. 4 inch bbl. Best trade of my life! I love that gun

695 must not be to bad of a price. simpson can't hardly keep them around for that price.

I think you are talking about a complete Erma Luger .22, yes?

Are you both talking about the conversion units like I just picked up? Have you actually seen them come and go from Simpson's inventory?

$600 to $1000 for the post war Erma Luger conversion units (with the box and papers) seems to be the going price tag.
It of course depends on condition, condition of the box and the paper work , ect.,,like ay other collectible firearm.
Some have/had a cleaning rod in with the set,,others never seemed to have had one in place. The 3 small half round 'dot' punch outs in the box liner between the toggle assembly and the magazine were where it was held in place.
I've heard the cleaning rod refered to as a 'clearing rod' also, but I think it's roll was that of a cleaning instrument.

IIRC ser#'s started at 1000.
I don't think many more than 1000 were made, but I could be wrong on that. I might have it confused with the older pre-War unit in the wooden box.

In the 1939 Stoeger's Catalogue, the .22 Conversion Kit was priced at $32.00. It showed lots of photographs along with a complete description of how to assemble it to the pistol. The 9mm Luger pistol was listed at $100.00.

I had one in the late 1950s. Go rid of it somewhere, of course. Wish I had it now. As I remember, it required high speed 22s to function.
