Want to be a star?
I don't know about you, but there are characters and parts I can imagine myself playing and wish I'd had a crack at.
I always wanted to play Cyrano de Bergerac, but I certainly would have maimed myself, my opponent, and various innocent bystanders in the sword-fighting scenes. I'm delusional enough to think I could have played either of the antagonists in "Inherit The Wind", though my preference would be for the Clarence Darrow character played by Spencer Tracy in the movie. No swords in that one, but some fine verbal swordplay.
What character, on stage or film or TV, would you like to play?
And just to avoid the obvious, let's say it can't be a part John Wayne played. (Cartoons are okay--I think I'd be a hell of a Yosemite Sam.)

Considering how furry my feet are, & my tendency to eat more than one breakfast, I would probably made a good hobbit.

Oh, just about any role ever played by Strother Martin. Except for that stupid movie where he turns himself into a King Cobra.

Oh, give me the part of Steve McQueen in "Bullit" or "The Magnificent Seven" I was in a theater with rocking seats when I saw "Bullit" and during the chase scene everyone was "a rockin" with every jump of his Mustang. I've always liked the underdog part too, so I like the "Magnificent Seven."

I'd probably cut myself too, if I had a sword in hand. And I'm not as good a wordsmith as he was, however the size of my probosculum qualifies me to play the part of Cyrano.

Sip, I'm sure you remember the Bob Seger classic, "The Horizontal Bop". Ranked right up there with "Betty Lou's Gettin' Out Tonight".

I think I would have been a better choice than Belushi in Animal House. Either that or taking Marlin Brando's place in Apocolypse Now. I always liked the idea of going rogue.

I could easily replace Sean Connery in most any of his movies. Except for the fact that I'm short, bald, ugly and not very cool I'd fit right in. I also think I'd be good in Vin Diesel roles...except of course that I'm short, ugly, not very cool and also I'm old. That isn't much of an issue for Connery because he makes old look cool....and still gets the women.
The thing I look at is that I'm flexible and willing to make concessions.

The last picture of the man I saw he just looked dead old.
Look at a picture of him with a beard, then look at a shot of the Ayatollah Khomeini. Connery could play him for sure, but you'd have to accept a Khomeini with a Scots accent.
I'd enjoy playing the sub captain in "The Hunt For Red October" except for the slight disadvantages you mentioned. And a few more.

I'd like Bogie's part in Casablanca. A lip-lock with Ingrid Bergman would be memorable, I'm sure for both of us.
I could also, as a Private Investigator myself, play Phillip Marlowe, the parts he played in The Big Sleep and The Maltese Falcon. Bogie was just plain cool.
Then there's Kevin Costners part in The Bodyguard. I could do that. I've provided terrified Women with Armed Bodyguard services many times. Always had to move in with them, much to the chagrin of Missus P&R Fan. It's my favorite service to provide.
I wouldn't HAVE to act in these parts. I've already lived most of 'em.

Yes, he was. In the interest of pedantry, I'm gonna point out that yes, he played Phillip Marlowe in The Big Sleep, but in The Maltese Falcon he portrayed Samuel Spade. (And ya gotta call a Spade a Spade.)
Why different detectives? Because The Big Sleep was based on a novel by Raymond Chandler, but The Maltese Falcon was based on a novel by Dashiell Hammett. Chandler and Hammett: Both novelists were great. Both still hold up.
