Aljazeera{Not Political}
Any body here checked out the aljazeera network. I did at lunch, just to see who was advertising.
All I saw (was called out after about 30mins.) was some promos and suprise, suprise one ad for lawyers wanting to sue drug companies.
Wondered if anyone else had watched and if they saw any ads. Save me the time and trouble of watching.

I don't even know if our cable carrier has it and frankly don't care. It's just one more of the several hundred channels I won't watch. I'm sure there will be a list of advertisers to boycott in short order.

Actually, I may boycott several of those companies for supporting current TV and "Internet Al" in the first place!

I dont need Aljazeera to see something about lawyers suing companies. Hear it allcthe time on Fox and other networks. Whats so different? I actually prefer Aljazeera. All my news stations talk about are filler news. Last nights braking news (in a city of 1.5 million and not to mention world wide) was a senetation worker caught on camera urinating in an alleyway! Ooooo huge news, someone should get a medal for that. At least other news dive deaper into world news

Whilst overseas I started watching Al Jazeera news and it was far superior to other networks in terms of broad coverage and less politics. Hope it will e successful in USA.

They bought ad space on a local am talk radio show. The response has not been positive.

They have about as much to do with terrorism as CNN does with the Oklahoma City bombing

Bingo!
In the local news you hear tgere was a G8 summit. On Aljazeera you actually hear who wants what and why. 99% of people on there are Brits or Americans with a few Ausis thrown in. No different than RT

Wow, since you said that, I've completely changed my opinion.
You have your opinion, I have mine and I am far from alone in thinking they give voice to terrorists.

I gotta go with tekarra and Arik.
Al jazeera is really a pretty good news source that doesn't cater to the "Left" or "Right", and pretty much impartial.
Some of you are under the impression that it's a terrorist talk site which it is not.

Coming to Direct TV if not already there. Almost feel like letting them know how I feel but this is suppose to be a free country with freedom of speech. I just won't watch it. Who knows they may start advertising there of marters.
Lets see how long before this tread get's shut down.

Luckily my cable set up doesn't have a terrorist TV network on it and even if it did, you couldn't pay me enough to watch it.
Oh, and I doubt you will get ANY REAL news for them. What a sad waste of food and oxygen!!!

They had a correspondent indicted as a terrorist with the 9/11 conspirators, support/supported the Muslim Brotherhood and have been targeted by both the US and British Government for giving information to Terrorists and providing them a political forum.
Part of the information that led to the Bin Laden raid was obtained by monitoring several terrorists communications/trips to local Aljazeera locations.
I could go on, but I'm not going to belabor the subject.
My conclusion is the same as the US Government's and the British Government's on the subject, it's not an "impression." Impressions are subjective/emotional, not fact based.
Everyone is welcome to their own conclusion, feel free to disagree with me on this subject. I'll give you credit you logically analyzed it too, you simply came to a different conclusion based on the information you have, please give me the same credit.
Thanks.

Just looked at their list of those who advertise and saw the Christopher and Dana Reeve Association. Im sure if either of them were still alive--they sure as hell wouldnt advertise on that channel. Neither of them were left-leaning.

It's "I dream of Muhammad" on that station, they changed the deal up a little bit. They also show "Have Camel, will Travel," and "60 seconds," yes it's a shorter show, but when your vest goes tick, tick, tick, who's got a hour? I'll be here all week........

One guy indicted huh?!?! By that logic it makes all militias bad since McVeigh was a bad guy. Also that what the antis think of us. One guy does something = bad we are all bad. Didnt we just cry about not being judged because of some kook?

My post had multiple points......
As I said, you have your opinion, I'm not going to debate you as neither of us are going to change our minds, making it pointless. Have a good evening.

Any proof of the above in the first two paragraphs, from an objective source?

Al Jazeera is often more objective than anything you'll see from "American" networks. I think they'll be a big success here and may even be an asset to our nation's interests in the so-called War on Terror.

I believe we've had more than one Army and Navy guy charged with espionage. Should we get rid of the Army and Navy? As far as a "political forum"...how about Jane Fonda's husband???

Feel free to Google it and make up your own, that's how I made my mind up on the subject.
Here's couple of answers that were simple enough to find.
Tayseer Allouni - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As for the US Government's position on the network, watch your nightly news, it's no secret. It also might be relevant the US bombed an Aljazeera location during the Afghan war.
That's about all the effort I'm going to put into it, but you can find plenty of info on both sides of the issue with about 30 minutes effort. You decide what you believe.

I've notified my "TV provider" that I do not wish to see this channel and more importantly, would like to see it broken out as an individually payed for choice and not subsidized within a bundle. Failure to do so will mean loss of my 20 year business.

I'm positive it's more fair and balanced than Faux News, not that I'm going to go out of my way to watch either channel.

I had it from a very good source that if a stray Tomahawk wiped out the Western correspondents in Baghdad in 1991, quite a few in the military would have grinned mightily. Despite the appearance of "embedded journalists" the military does not like ANYTHING that may be a conduit for information that they do not control. The destruction of the Al Jazeera compound in Afghanistan was doable because no Western born folk were believed to be there.
As for Al Jazeera bias, I doubt it can be any worse than the games played by Voice of America and Radio Moscow during the Cold War. In those days the BBC World Service was the only one I heard on shortwave that came remotely close to reporting from the planet I lived on.

My cable co which is COMCAST just took off one of my favorite channels, RFD TV. Country music, bluegrass, train shows, old tractors and Baxter Black. Then they add this one.
THANKS a bunch!

Al Jazeerians? I can't even find Al Jazeeria on the map, but I'm pretty sure I heard on the news that we were flying drones around there.

It's a good idea to pay attention to media world wide to get a feel for what is really happening. They all (governments and media outlets) have an agenda and somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

Probably true. I don't plan to watch AJ but I don't see how they could possibly be more at odds with the interests of the America I knew than ABC/CBS/NBC News - and most elected officials who haven't the slightest problem with trampling the U.S. Constitution every chance they get (if they think it's in their own interest to do so).

I'm very aware of what's going on and well aware of the fact that the Mainstream American Media is a propaganda arm for the US Government. I trust none of them any further than I can throw them. The Government, even less than the media.
That however, does not mean I care to listen to the Muslim version/spin on the world either, nor do I support the people they have supported.
It's not a blind faith in D.C. thing, trust me.
