Went to the gunshow, ended up at the animal shelter. Pics added!
Went to the Augusta gunshow this morning, very few revolvers, actually, I think there was more of everything but guns there. Federal .22lr 550 round bulk packs for $65  , bricks of other .22's for $75! So I didn't spend a nickel.
I ended up at the Augusta animal shelter where they had a two for one adoption deal going and adopted two kittens! So I saved a pile of money at the gunshow, and am giving two kittens a good home. I am a big time cat lover and have been down to only one the last couple years so I figured it was time to do something about it.
All in all, it was a very good day, and I'm feeling pretty darn good about it.
I'll try to post some pics of my new charges tomorrow if they'll hold still long enough!
They finally tuckered out enough for a couple pics, haven't named them yet so I'm still using the shelter names.

Willis is a bobtail with gorgeous eyes, when they're open, and is sitting in my lap as I type this.
Jinx, my 8 year old Bengal female is more than a little ticked about this whole affair!

Congratulations, Mike, and thanks for your compassion. I'm on the Board of the DFW Humane Society, a no-kill shelter down here and I appreciate all who help find a loving home for our little friends. Sometimes during this part of the year kittens can overrun a shelter. I'm sure that your two little ones will be an indispensable part of your family in no time.

Lucky you! I would love to have some catty companionship, but I developed an allergy to them as I grew older. I'm about to the point, though, if one of the semi feral cats in my neighborhood would agree to give it a shot I'd try it out!

selling cats at a gun show?? like right between the 22lr bricks and reactive targets ? jeez squirting the cat with the garden hose is kinda fun but selling them for targets dont seem right

Rescue dog owner here--I think he actually rescued me--so my hat's off to you. And it may take you months to spend as much on cat litter as you would have on a gun!

My wife is also allergic to cats, short hair cat's she found out. She got a rescue long hair cat and has had no problem with her. Had her for about 12 years now.

Cats are so adorable. With fall and winter coming up, all the reason to get a cat. It's like having a self-warming stuffed animal to sleep with.

I'm saddened by people who are too serious to do that.
There's still a good deal of the kid inside this nearly-76-year-old relic, and I love letting him out to play.

We have a rescue dog and cat, the dog is a love bug and follows me everywhere. The cat is another story, I am her attendant, she lets me brush her several times a day. and lets me know when it's time to eat. If I have been gone all day and left her to her own resources she will get on the bed at night and sleep between my legs. She is not a cat that is going to lay on your lap she is more of a cat the get her petting in short pasting moments.

this is Fuzbutt, Some body and dumped down by the river. He was about 6 weeks back then, carried him home in one hand. He's over 12 #'s now. He looks like a pure bred Persian

Congrats on the kittys.
I just got two six week old kittens. There brothers and going crazy playing.
My three feral kind of tamed cats refuse to come in the house for a few days. They played upset but now they all are playing together. I make sure I still pet and give my feral buddies food and attention too. There still special to me after all I saved them when no one wanted them. I try to take in every cat that needs a home. But I find abandoned kittens when I'm fishing too. Being retired my goal is to save kittens/cats and dogs too.
I tell them they just hit the lotto when I bring them home.

I told our latest rescue addition "Henry" just that when we got him 4 months ago - "Henry - you don't know it now, but you just hit the lottery" He knows it now!!

Very nice, we have 2 cats and 2 dogs all rescues, I went to the shelter to drop off some donations because my beloved rotty had passed on and instead came home with these 2.

This was a tribute I made for my Rotty shortly after he died, we took him to the Vet for a minor procedure, he had a sac on his neck that would from time to time fill up with a fluid so the vet said he could remove it in 5 minutes and it would never come back, well we dropped him off and a half hour later they called and said he was gone, the Vet gave him too much gas, I still miss my Buddy but his passing saved 2 other animals from the shelter.

Some friends of my sister had a cat named Nosioptar. Sounded wonderfully Egyptian.
It's "rat poison" spelled backward.
The also had a pet boa constrictor they called Julius Squeezer.
