Best Store-Bought BBQ Sauce....There is a CHAMPION!
The other day cougar14 and I asked for your opinions on which store-bought BBQ sauces you prefer. I tallied up the results on both threads by counting the thread responses along with the likes. I tried to discount members who "liked" multiple times for the same sauce. There is an overwhelming champion when it comes to the opinions of forum members.
1. SWEET BABY RAYS (all varieties) 50 votes
2. FAMOUS DAVE'S "DEVIL' SPIT" 9 votes
3. STUBB'S SPICY 8 votes
4. BONE SUCKIN' SAUCE 3 votes
Most of the rest of the preferences seemed to be more regional and may or may not be in the big stores all over the country. One of the responders on cougar14's thread said that his Kroger store had SBR on sale right now ($10 for 10 bottles). Wish I had a Kroger store!
Thanks everyone for participating.

My Houston Kroger also has Sweet Baby Ray's on sale for $1 a bottle, as well as Stubb's for $2 a bottle. It's a good weekend for a $3 investment for sampling. I was a Stubb's vote, but I have tried SBR and it's too sweet for my tastes. I'm a Texas purist and generally do not sauce beef, but use sauce on pork and sausage.

I like the Hickory Smoke Open Pit. Of course I don't use it bare naked out of the bottle, I add in a capful of liquid smoke, Worchester sauce, some black pepper, and depending on my mood and the meat a varying quantity of oven roasted garlic.

Mmmmm, Sweet baby Ray's !!! I get mine for $1.19 at the local Aldis store. The best part is the bottles from this store are 50% larger than normal size bottles !!!

Bulls Eye!
Here I am replying to my own thread. I cooked up a rack of baby backs tonight and needed some sauce. I have been experimenting lately and that was the purpose of my original thread. Anyway, what I had on the shelf was Bulls Eye Texas. I'll reserve final judgement when I get to the bottom of the jar, but first impressions were very positive. Had a really nice "kick" and that's what I like with a BBQ sauce.
Anybody out there a fan of Jim Daddies sauce? my best friend (in Indiana) who is a grilling guru swears by it, but I find it too sweet.

I was a long-time fan of Sweet Baby Ray's original variety, but ever since I tried SBR's Sweet and Spicy I've become a convert to that. I eat a lot of grilled chikkin, and when it's almost done I peel off the skin and sauce it. In 15 minutes it's awesome!
I was also surprised when I tried one of the store brands, Shop N Save carries a house brand called Everyday Essentials, and their "Spicy" BBQ sauce is not only pretty danged good, but cheap to boot!
