Proud Papa Boast ***Now Twice the Pride***
My boy had his belt test today for his Blue Belt in Wado Shiho Kai Karate. His Dojo doesn't test very often (which I am in favor of as my Dojo back in the day was a belt mill).
Anyway, he's been very focused and disciplined each and every time he enters his Dojo and it shows.
This was a VERY nice roundhouse kick from his opponent and he blocked/avoided it easily... I was impressed.
His Shihan and Sensei have been singing his praises for months and today they rewarded him for his diligence.
Isaiah skips Blue Belt is awarded Green Belt - YouTube
They tested him for Blue Belt... then they decided to test him for Green Belt and he was awarded his Green Belt. As Shihan alluded to in the video, we too would like to acknowledge and thank Ms. Robin (a young lady who is a student and an assistant instructor) for working with Isaiah to facilitate this accomplishment. His example for his prospective sister (the four year old foster child we may be able to adopt) has been a positive one. She has declared that she wants to take Karate as well and Shihan has agreed to give her a shot (even at four and a half years old). She begins this coming Tuesday on a trial membership.

Thats great sir. Good to see the youngsters involved
with this activity. Teaches them a skill set, confidence,
respect, and to work towards an achievement.
My 8 year old grandson is also taking a similar class
and has been developing very well. Can't remember
what color belt he last got. I do remember him telling
old Papaw that after he obtains his next colored belt
he will be taught to train with the martial arts weapons.
That will be interesting.
Chuck

Thanks y'all. The first few months it was really just entertaining to watch these young kids... but as time has passed and they begin to understand what they're doing and more importantly WHY they're doing it, watching those little ones has become an inspiration.

That's something to brag about
It takes time, work and dedication to advance skills like that. My boy was good in Tae Kwon Do and truthfully, Tae Kwon Do was good for him!

Keep it up, Dad! This will be great for both of them and will carry-over into their adult lives. My son gave up team-sports with their radical parents for karate at age 12. He progressed to the black-belt level by the time he graduated from high school. He went into the military and on his first call to home he was laughing, saying karate-camp was FAR harder than basic-training. As I said, it carries over for them......
Good luck to both and to you.

Danica is a real cutie! I think it's just as well she's learning early to defend herself against all the boys who'll be swarming around your house.
