Why The Branches Of The Military Can't Work Together

All joking aside, I have had the privilege of serving with all services during my career and can say unequivocally The United States has, bar none, the very best military personnel in the entire world. I salute you all past, present and future!!!

You are right. I would not care to be any force opposing ANY branch of our military. Despite the original post, oppose one of them, you'll oppose all of them!

It was (and is) with great respect I regard the members of our armed forces, encountered firsthand in three "actions" in small funny countries (with salt water around them) in 42 years. As a Merchant Mariner my job was to deliver toilet paper. And do some other fun stuff with the locals.
Thanks for inviting me to the party.

But not when within earshot, I'm guessing. ;)

Some of my best service memories are of observing in stunned awe as a group of Navy Chiefs and Marine Gunnys spent an afternoon trying to out sea-story each other.

Epic. And unrepeatable in pretty much any civilian company.
I bet that was indeed epic :D

The Merchant Marine is the unsung branch of military service. My late Father in Law graduated from Kings Point and served in the Merchant Marine before going to law school. He instilled a love of the sea in all of his children (including my wife) as well as me (I started dating her when I was 19). He died way too soon.

I have heard that one of the men on Iwo Jima raising the flag was a Sea Bee

Pharmacists Mate 2nd John Henry "Jack" "Doc" Bradley. When he passed away in 1994, his son James knew so little about what his father did, he set out to interview the families of other members of the flag raising party. The result was the book Flags Of Our Fathers.

Best Beavis and Butthead voice - "Haaa, Haaaa you said do do!"

The Army and Marines talk about 3 hots and cot - when you are at sea it is 4 meals a day and air conditioning!

"former" is what is preferred, never "ex".

"ex-Marine", bad.

"former Marine", good.

PS, No one here is joking about dead soldiers.

What soldiers do do, is joke a lot, especially about the other services.

Being an Army Infantryman, I got to work with the Navy, Marines and the Air Force for various training. I do know for a fact that the Navy and Air Force have better food. Also one of the largest Female Air Police I ever met worked at Templehof I am a bit over six feet and she towered over me.

You should see the Tug Boat Annies who worked the harbor tugs at Pearl!
