Just got done readin' the Sammich Thread. It was good with a lot of good ideas and some....uhh....strange ideas as well.
Some of 'em I'm gonna try and some not.
But it got me to thinkin' about what I did this very mornin'. I created what might just be the worlds best breakfast burrito. I've always loved breakfast tacos and burritos. I prefer the burritos because they'z bigger.
and you only have to make and eat one of 'em to get full if you do it right. And I always try, no matter what, to do it right.
Miss Pam and I had a couple of HUGE T-bones steaks last night. She couldn't eat even half of hers so I put it in a zip lock baggie and put it in the fridge. I went to sleep last night letting my mind wander over the possibilities for that tasty little morsel. (Only it wasn't so little It was half the steak
)
Sitting at the breakfast table this morning having our coffee we were putting the final touches on my inspiration for what turned out to be this most excellent burrito.
Set a large dinner plate on a burner on the stove top on low or warm. Put a HUGE flour tortilla on the plate. After a couple of minutes turn the burner off and it'll stay just right while you make the rest of the stuff.Strategically place 2 slices of American cheese on the tortilla, In a skillet melt a thick pat of butter and add the sliced up piece of steak and some sliced onion and a small chopped up jalapeno pepper. Stir that around until the onion is very tender.
While the steak and onion mix is in the works break two eggs in a bowl and break the yolks but don't "scramble" the eggs. Fry them on both sides in a separate skillet. when they are done carefully lay them on the cheese. Add the steak and egg mix being careful to arrange all the ingredients so that you can roll it all up when you get done.
Finally, cut up some tomato into strips and place it in with the other stuff. If I'd had an avocado I'd have put some of that on it too...maybe next time.
Now comes the tricky part. Some experience in this will come in handy. I been at it a while so I came out real good.
Now ya gotta roll it all up so it will stay together. First pick up the closest edge. You should have all the stuff as far to the left edge as possible and as close to the top of the tortilla as possible with out it going past the edge. Once you've made one complete roll pick up the bottom edge and fold it up over the ingredients. Keep it tucked in with your right hand as you continue to roll it with your left hand. Finish rolling it all the way and you're done.
You can now pick it up and nothing will fall out the bottom because you have it closed off and it should stay together if you got a fairly tight roll. Until you get the hang of it you might want to put a fork out just in case.
