Default An Apple A Day.....

I read on an internet site that eating an apple before bed would prevent acid reflux. Well, it works. I've been eating apples for about 2 weeks now with no attacks.
A couple of hours ago I had a hamburger with minced onion. I got gas/burping almost immediately. So I peeled an apple and ate it and the gas is gone.
Only one problem, four apples cost five bucks. That's more than Prilosec. Wish I had my own orchard.

Wonder if it works with apple pie?

Probably not. Too much risk of overdose.

I love Apples and always bought a bag full of Red Delicious brand Apples, which I love. They have not or rarely been for sale here for several months and the other brands of apples dont taste very good, so ive had none in months-cept for unsweetened Apple sauce--which is good. Apple sauce works for me, and the good thing is--you have no core to have to get up to throw away so you dont attract the fruit flies Walmart and HEBs sell their own version of low sugar or unsweetened and they all taste good to me.

Something else I recently found out about apple sauce, you can use it to make stuffing. That is, if you dont like using broth. I havent tried it yet, but the person who told me she uses it, said its the bomb.

Larry,
Gotta hunch that would aggravate my reflux disease. But if I had enough I probably wouldn't care!!

I bet apple sauce would work. I'll try apple juice and see.
Maybe I'll get the cost down yet.
Our supermarket has been carrying Jazz apples from New Zealand. They are pretty good. Not too many American apples are available and those that are are mealy.

Interesting results from apples Ron. Funny because I have a real
problem with acid reflux that started about 20 yrs ago and has
gradually worsened to the point that I sometimes cannot get through
a meal without throwing up. I used to love apples and usually ate one
with every meal but had to give them up because they seem to be the
one thing guaranteed to trigger a severe acid reflux episode. I just
bought some Priolsec and am hoping it will help.

An apple a day means layoffs and budget cuts in the medical field. My doctor recommends hamburgers

So far it's working for me. Sorry your results weren't good.
Definitely try the Prilosec. If you have good insurance then try Nexium. I was at the point of taking one Prilosec in the morning and one in the evening. Reflux is a miserable disease to have.
