Maine Warden Pistols?
I'm watching that Animal Planet show about Maine (state) game wardens. They never seem to show their sidearms close up.
Anyone know what they carry, or if there's much option?
If they track a bear they carry some sort of police shotgun, a pump with extended magazine. Don't know what it is, either. Haven't seen any rifles yet.
Their Yankee accents crack me up. But they seem to be good wardens.

If you were forced to carry a Glock would you let someone take a close up picture of you with it?

Ohsheepdog's link says they now use SIG .357's to replace S&W .357 revolvers.
Anyone know which S&W's they had?
Can they buy the outgoing revolvers?
I know we have a couple of Maine members...

That show was on last night, I think they showed about 5 hrs of it, it was the only thing on TV, the reason you don't see them take out their gun's is they don't know where they left their bullet.

In October of 2011, here in Ohio, in Muskingham County. A mentally ill privet zoo owner released all his animals then killed himself. The first deputy on the scene walked around a corner and was confronted with a Grizzly Bear. He kill it with a 40 S&W cal. I don't know what brand but would assume Glock due to the L.E. sales program many of the less funded departments use them. If I were him, I'd be proud to have my picture taken with that Glock! All I can say is BIG BRASS ONES! Ivan

Absolutely! If I was a member of the opposite sex I might put looks first. But I'm not and I'm proud of my Glocks

I have one Glock and it's a 40. But if I need to take down a grizzly I would prefer something larger. I notice the Alaska guys on TV usually take a shotgun when they go on a bear call. Do they use slugs or buckshot?

Slugs, I'm sure. I very much doubt that buck would penetrate enough.

Well, the answer to my question seems to be that they switched from ukn. S&W .357's to SIG 226's in .357 SIG.
No need to discuss Glocks or A-10's...
I think they don't show guns much because Animal Planet producers and fans abhor guns and hunting.
