Default Super Bore - watched 12 Angry Men

After the Broncs muffed that opening snap and went downhill from there, I knew it was gonna be a Seattle blowout. Manning and his mates looked like a Pop Warner team in the first quarter and when it was 15-0 I switched to re-watch 12 Angry Men on TCM with the great Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb, and then The Lost Weekend. A suitable metaphor, as the Seahawks with their "12th Man" proved to be the angriest of birds while, for the Broncs, it was a Sunday they'd rather forget.

Manning is/was a great QB but unless he's well-protected he's vulnerable and virtually immobile in the pocket. $98 million not well spent. The QB of tomorrow will be scramblers like Wilson, Kaepernick and, to a lesser extent, Aaron Rodgers.

What few commercials we saw were pathetic. Whatever happened to Speedy, Alka Seltzer and "I can't believe I ate the whole thing?" Typically, the product being advertised was buried amid a mish-mash of emotional appeal. An alien tuning in would have thought that the only products America makes these days are beer, cars, electronic gadgets and chips.

Good movies. I opted for the Walking Dead marathon, after framing 3 doors and 2 windows in the kitchen..

Read a good review of "Twelve Angry Men" once. The reviewer said it was a movie about the world's worst defense attorney.

I didn't watch the movie although it's very good.

I watched Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet in between unsuccessful attempts to get VNC working on one of my Linux servers.

I bounced between 12 Angry, WD, and the game.

What a great show of the new generation of QB vs the old.

If Manning were a scrambler like Wilson it would have been a very different game. I don't know if Manning plain does not like to move out of the pocket or he plain doesn't see what's coming to take evasive action.

In either case, Wilson smoked Manning's performance, and the Seattle defense was just amazing to watch how they totally destroyed and demoralized what was considered the leauge's best offense.

-edit-
Now that I consider it, I think Manning senses the danger coming, but sticks to the old fashioned "calm in the pocket" that used to be so admired. That style doesn't work anymore I don't think. Sort of like the Minute Men vs the Redcoats.

Default 12 Angry Men

Since I am not a Sports fan, I viewed both movies, 12 Angry Men and the Lost Weekend. In the 12 Angry men, this was the only movie Henry Fonda Produced. I thought the entire cast did an excellent job and the movie won 2 academy awards. The Lost weekend leading star was Ray Milland. He won an academy award for his role in this great movie with his co-star Jane Wyman, President Regan's 1st wife, gave an excellent performance dipicting a girlfriend trying to save a drunken man she loved. The movie was very different than the movies that were produced at that time. Because of the movie content, the hollywood movie approvers rejected the movie but further showings at their private screens changed thair minds and the movie was a block buster. Both movies were quality films and although both were in black and white, they were both four star films. TCM are showing moview that earned an academy awards or nominated for academy awards during the next 30 days until the Academy Awards debut on March 2nd. If you have a change to watch them, I highly recommend the movies.

Default 12 Angry Men

Saw an interesting take on it a while back. Can't recall what channel, but it was set in Russia. All subtitles, and the teenage boy defendant was Chechnyan. I thought it was a fascinating adaptation.
