2 come to mind-

Chrysler- I love my YJ, but hot damn does it require an endless supply of cash to keep it tight. I've heard the AMC years were the glory days of Jeeps. the 4.0 is strong, though.

eMachines- Back when Windows XP came out my family bought one of these turds. The salesman said they were made from the same internals as HP. My dad fell for it. That pile didn't last 2 years...

Remember when 10 megabytes was more memory than you could ever need in a lifetime? Everyones expectations changes.

At least today, if something cost a substantial amount of money, like cars, they will actually do their research and not cheap out like everything else they buy.

Well genius, I'm happy to report they HAVE "turned it around" and now produce cars that are as reliable as the best...more so than most "high-end" *** brands that are all about the name.
While TOYOTA and LEXUS had to recall virtually EVERY car they sold in the last decade...Hyundai has not.

I've owned a few Taurus revolvers and found them to be 100% reliable and while not (at that time) possessed of the fine finish of an S&W, they were MECHANICALLY just as good....

I've been through a total of three Rossi's. I got one of the 3" 38's and a 4" .357. Sold them both. Both had atrocious triggers and had breakages in the first or second outing that required them to be returned. Sold both for what I paid and would actually say they are 'ok' for somebody who's not a shooter and just wants to have one for, say, a paperweight. You know, it might work or it might not. But hey, if it's a nightstand gun what's the odds you'll ever need it right?
(I'm kidding of course).

That said; my Rossi M92, .357, 16" Stainless, for a mere $550ish is the best levergun I've ever owned. Solid action, no issues whatsoever, predrilled for a scope. My ONLY issue with it is that it's only as accurate as I can shoot it...

Well, I don't know that I'm a genius, but thanks for the compliment! If you read my post completely you might have a better concept on what I was trying to say...but maybe not.

Did you read where I said: "That was back in the nineties, & I know they've come a long way since then & have really turned their image around".

or:

"Well, I can tell you one that I used to think was pure junk & that is Hyundai! I worked at an Acura dealership years ago & the owners decided to add another more lower end brand to the lineup, you know, to cover more bases & increase our customer base."

Do you see where I said USED TO? This was in the early nineties, a fact I thought I made clear in my post, & it was MY experience with Hyundai. How this could be unclear to you I don't understand. Do you drive a Hyundai? Oh, & if people aren't allowed to express an opinion that you don't like without being attacked or insulted, this Forum won't be a very happy place. And I have no opinion on Taurus firearms, & expressed no opinion on Taurus firearms, so I don't know where(left field?)that came from.

In the 80's it was very hard indeed to find a single good word to say regarding the Yugo! After Yugo's quick exit from the new market, frugal sorts would buy five or six of them and continuously scavenging parts to keep one on the road. I really can't think of a bigger piece of Communist Block junk. Made the AMC Gremlin and the Chevy Vega look well built

Sylvania high intensity headlight bulbs. I'm not sure what the real name of them is, but they're the ones that are supposed to be really bright, and are really expensive. I put a half dozen sets of them in, and they'd blow one right after the other...first one side, I'd replace that one, then a few days later the other one would go, I'd replace that one, then back to the other side. The auto parts place replaced them for free, but it was still annoying to have to replace them.

I went to Wal-Mart, bought a couple of cheap Sylvania bulbs, and haven't had a problem since. And can't really tell a difference in the brightness.

I had some problems with firearms that usually aren't considered troublesome.

The draw bar on my S&W 4006 snapped after very few rounds. A complete teardown and part replacement around $60 was required here.

A Ruger P345 had an internal part, which one I don't remember, fail early on. Another complete teardown and part replacement

A Ruger bolt action rifle in 300 Winchester mag would drop the floorplate every time I fired it and then drop all the rounds in the magazine. This was a brand new rifle right out of the box and I fixed it myself rather then sending it back to Ruger.

But people like cheap junk. When I'd quote a price on custom furniture, they'd tell me how they can get it at Walmart much cheaper. I try to tell them that it's made in China junk made out of particle board with a plastic picture of wood glued on it but they don't care, it's cheaper.
I'll tell them how much for a custom leather belt and I'll be told that they can get a leather belt for $5 all day long at the Dollar General. I try to tell them the difference between strap leather and bonded leather and the difference between a solid brass buckle and a brass colored pot metal buckle but they don't care, they want the cheap junk. It's true that they'll have to keep replacing it but they don't care they want their cheap junk.
I read on the forum how people'd get a cheap pocket holster and buy 2 or 3 a year. A pocket holster made of quality leather will likely outlast the user.
It's a disposable society, people buy cheap junk, throw it away and replace it with more cheap junk.
I don't have that kind of money. When I spend money on something, I want it to last. It may cost a little more initially but I know that I have a quality product that'll last and I won't have to keep replacing it.

I have a pair of Sorel snow boots that have developed cracks in the rubber above the toe area, not in the sole.

I'm really hacked about this.

THEY ARE ONLY 34 YEARS OLD.

Just goes to show, I guess. Every Ruger I have owned has needed to be sent back to the factory. All four, one rifle and three handguns. Don't own any anymore, and unlikely to purchase another.

Land Rover, Lorcin, Remington .22 ammo except the Eley, any company that makes blue jeans with only 5 belt loops, a lot of sock makers.
I will say Harley, but that's not that they don't make good bikes, now. I just don't have any use for a V-twin, no matter who makes it, or how you turn it. Big Mac, gag. All the American car companies in the 70s. Remember British Leyland? I think now the Korean car companies(Kia, Hyundai) are close to the best. I wouldn't buy a Mitsubishi, I've never known an owner that was happy with one. How can I trust Dodge, they won't even put their name on their own truck. Why can't someone make a golf club that makes the ball go straight, when I hit it?

Oh, and let's not forget ABC, NBC, and CBS.

I myself have no use for a v-twin either, unless its a Ducati or a Honda RC51. Heavy & slow doesn't cut it for me. Mitsubishi, not that long ago, was circling the drain & for good reason. They seem to have turned it around, like Hyundai & Kia. I lost any respect I had for Dodge when I worked at a Dodge dealership for a couple of years. They sure built some good looking vehicles, though.
