I was at a hockey game at the time of their win.

It was between periods, when the Zamboni had just gotten onto the ice. I heard the crowd erupt into applause on the other side of the rink, and wondered what that was about until the Zamboni turned on it's first lap around. On that side of the Zamboni was a hastily scrawled sign on poster board.
It read "USA: 4, USSR: 3"

The applause was deafening. I'll never forget how giddy I felt.

Probably one of the greatest moments in sports history.

I have the game that made America proud on DVD, "Miracle On Ice" and that is exactly what it was. CCCP red uniforms with matching red faces.:D

I watched that game on German television (in the middle of the night), when I got to the track the next day and told one of the Germans that the Americans beat the Russians in ice hockey, he wouldn't believe me no matter what I said. He finally went into town to buy a paper to see if it was true. I remember it like yesterday.
