I know PBS is not popular
around here, but did anyone happen to watch HAWKING tonight. There wasn't much science but the biographical part was fascinating. Dr Hawking was 71 years old when the film was made. I think it was made in 2012. As a young man when he was first diagnosed he was given 3 years to live. That's the way to show 'em!!!!

I will just come right out and say it. I sometimes watch things
on PBS. Not all of their programs are political. Besides I think
it's good to hear from many sources on issues. OK now I'm ready
to start dodging the Boo's thrown at me.

PBS isn't very political at all. Their programming is very informative. It is the best channel out there.

We get two of them here, the Atlanta PBS station and the Georgia PBS station. I occasionally watch things on the Atlanta station and we are on their list for Celtic Woman tickets. We get an e-mail and a text as soon as tickets are available so we usually end up front row for the concerts.

Nothing wrong with PBS, in fact it's practically all my wife and I watch anymore. Sunday we just watched the season finale of "Downton Abbey". Hey, hey, I'm not surrendering my man card either. Maybe you're thinking of NPR. Now that's a very libreral radio station.

I know that PBS has some awesome show on it. I have tried to watch but our cable is not perfect yet. I still love to watch Thomas the tank engine. Have ever since my son was little. Still a good station and network.

Don't confuse PBS with NPR. Many shows on PBS are non-political, there are a few, but most are not in my opinion. NPR is another story.....

You may be right. Could be I was thinking NPR. But you know, I think this forum has grown just a little less conservative since I joined eight years ago.
So we've got a bunch of PBS fans and no one saw HAWKING?

Before cable PBS was about the only source for mature, intelligent and informative programming.

My wife watches a lot of PBS.
I saw a bit of Hawking & set up the DVR to record it next time around. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to see if it's still there or if the wife erased it to make room for some dawgawful cop show or ultra violent Lifetime Movie carp...

PBS can be...
PBS can be awesome. 'I Claudius', 'Danger UXB'. Even if they don't produce all of the shows themselves the quality can be very, very good.

I've been a regular viewer of Antiques Road Show on PBS for many years. I also enjoy many of the presentations on NOVA.
However everyone should understand that many of their "foundation" supporters are left wing liberal oriented.
I don't expect to see much in the line of pro-2nd amendment programming on PBS.

PBS is one of my favorites too, I listen all the time. On Sunday night from 7 to 11 PM they run all the really old radio shows like Gunsmoke, Johnny Dollar/Pvt. Eye, and a bunch of others. Really fun stuff . . . .

Public broadcasting is really private broadcasting. It's controlled by a fairly small number of folks who I don't usually agree with.
Sort of like countries with democratic and republic in their names. When you hear of a country like that, you can be pretty sure that they are neither democratic or a republic.

I watch several PBS shows. The Woodwright's Shop is one of my long time favorites. A British comedy, Keeping Up Appearances, is funny once you get to know the characters. Also, a local show, Tennessee Crossroads, is a good show about places of interest in TN.
I don't see much political stuff on PBS, probably cause I'd turn it. Enough of that elsewhere.

I like some of the programming... especially Masterpiece theater.
However... I really don't like their politics. The very worst is National Public Radio which is horrible!
I watch a bunch of British mysteries that came about through PBS... but watch on Netflix where I don't get their "public service announcements" and fund raisers.

PBS is fine as long as you exclude their "news" and commentary shows, which are all decidedly left wing. If they ever had a show which reflected on the 2nd Amendment favorably they would probably cause more heart attacks from shock than they could imagine. I think the heart attacks would be by their liberal base who would become apoplectic while their small pro-gun viewership would just be thinking "its about time".

I like PBS, and watch it often. I don't watch the news, dramas, or comedys. I like the historical shows, the music shows, Nature, Nova, and AR. As far as politics go, PBS was created by liberals, I think during the Johnson administration. I've heard conservatives bashing it, so what do you expect?

There are a few PBS shows that are very good. Antiques Road Show, Nova and Austin City Limits are few that I watch.
I pay no mind their political leanings as long as it is shoved down my throat or blatantly exhibited. The shows I watch are pretty much apolitical.
Now their federal funding with tax dollars is a topic that should be avoided here.

I watch PBS on occasions and find their programing interesting. I listen to NPR to keep informed of the liberal agenda... "know thy enemy."

PBS radio has some most excellent classical music. Well worth listening to. Their news reporting tends to be biased.

A lot of the war and mystery dramas on PBS are produced by the BBC which is head and tails over Hollywood and makes Hollywood look like a bunch of history modifying liars.
