Why so many different...
Why so many concealed carry acronyms and terms. We have CC, CHP, CHL, CPL, CCW, CWP, CCH, CCP, LTCF, and a few others. There is also somebody's EDC, and on and one and on.
Feel free to add to the list.

I honesty don't know what all the acronyms for LTCF (license to carry firearms as it is in PA) stand for, but know what they mean when someone uses them.

The use of acronyms is probably more prevalent since a lot of the members are former military, and we all know how they like to use acronyms.

Maybe someone could put together a whole sentence using acronyms? Then the rest of us could try to figure it out?
America seems to be going nuts with new words and acronyms.

Florida uses CWP. Concealed Weapons Permit.
Once you receive your CWP, you can carry handguns, electric weapons, tear gas guns, knives (except ballistic knives), and billies.
Much better than just a "gun permit".

In PA (Pennsylvania ), we have what is called a LTCF or license to carry firearms. We can conceal carry or open carry. I'm not going to go into great details, but in a nutshell:
1) You need a LTCF to carry concealed anywhere you are
2) You need a LTCF to open carry inside a vehicle
3) You need a LTCF to open carry in the city of Philadelphia
Again, there are some other technical details but that is the major components in a nut shell.

I used to work for Navelex which was under:
NavFacEngCom - Navel Facilities Engineering Command
I heard a story of a similar office where the Sears catalog was marked 'NavSears'.

Tennessee issues a Handgun Carry Permit. That's just what it is... a permit to carry a handgun. It's not a concealed carry permit per se, you can carry open or concealed with the permit. Without a HCP you can't carry a handgun, period. HCP also allows you to legally have a loaded long gun in a vehicle... loaded shotgun... loaded SBR machine gun or whatever. The long gun law was passed a few years ago. Few HCP holders understood that a loaded long gun in a vehicle was illegal so our lawmakers figured they might as well just make it legal.

So you're telling me the reason Chester walked that way was because he had a Winchester '73 down that pant leg?
bshepherd has it right. Every place has their own terminology, hence all the different acronyms. In WA it's technically a "State of Washington License to carry concealed pistol" and is generally referred to as a CPL, Concealed Pistol License.

Technically CCW, LTCF, and all those others are called Initialisms. Acronyms are letters that spell a word. An example would be S.W.A.T.
Those letters actually spell out a word. The world is filled with way too many initialisms and acronyms. People are going to forget how to form a complete sentence. OMG.
