I left Colorado 12 years ago as it was just begining to get Californicated. That proved to be a smart move seems. But there are many more than 1000 more that need to wake up and take it back from the criminals. Chicago and New York would be well advised to heed this police chief's message.

On another note did you notice the incredulity of the media people when reporting this? They don't they get it. The sheeple are growing teeth and the wolves will no longer frighten them. Calling 911 really does make sense for picking up the bodies. That they have proven to be good at. The only difference will be who's bodies they have to bag.

I carry a gun because I can't carry a police officer. (Ayoob, Massad)

I saw the original video he was referring to. IIRC I left a comment like "Mama could use some range time."

I would happily kick down a couple boxes of 9mm for said practice.

Be a good video to show the antis when they boast of their PD's 4 minute response time...

Not an issue in Texas. The Second Fastest way to lose an election in Texas is to infringe on the second amendment. The fastest way is to propose an individual income tax.

That's not a joke.

It's an astute observation.

In a similar "Kudos to..." vein, the Wyoming Attorney General (and AGs are not always the friend of gun people) and 19 other states are filing friends of the Court briefs in support of the gentleman who is fighting to CCW in New Jersey.

So apparently people in NJ have to prove a need for a gun. To take this one step further they should also demonstrate a need for free speech, or to be safe from unreasonable searches. In summary, our constitutional rights are subject to a demonstrated "need"? Interesting.

Now, now, New Jersey is a safe place - only peaceful people live there and criminals are just not welcome. In fact, New Jersey's known world-wide for being a hotbed of peaceful, non-violent, non-criminal behavior. There's simply no reason to arm yourself in New Jersey.

Durango, My TN Handgun CC Permit Travel Guide under NJ says; "consider bringing a long string to tie to your pistol. Hang it from the Delaware Bridge. Pick it up on your way out, if it's still there."

Right on! In for a penny, in for a pound...

Gun rights groups are locked in a battle here in CA to eliminate the "good cause" clause from our CCW laws and turn CA into a "shall issue" state versus a "may issue". In CA a CCW can be issued by either a County Sheriff or Chief of Police, and their criteria can vary widely.

Many county don't recognize "self defense" as a valid "good cause", and as such, people were systematically locked out from getting a CCW unless you could figure out the kind of "good cause" that was acceptable by the LE agency you were applying to.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals recently made a landmark decision on a suit filled against the Sheriff in San Diego county that and struck down the "good cause" requirement stating that "the right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable arm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense."

While the Sheriff in San Diego is not going to file an appeal, the court's decision was too much for our beloved AG (Kamala Harris) to choke down, so her office is going file a legally dubious appeal... and all of this will likely end up in the CA Supreme Court. It will be great day for Californian's should the CA Supreme Court uphold the 9th Circuit Court decision... if CA can be turned into a "Shall Issue", there's much hope for the rest of the states... an maybe, just maybe a national CCW permit? Sigh... I can dream can't I ???

Years ago, we had a Police Chief (Eugene "Larry" Byrd) in the small rural town of Isleton, located in Sacramento County go "rogue" and was issuing CCW's as they should be... but under pressure from the heavy hand of the Sac County Sheriff's Office in concert with the Sac County AG office , he was shut down.

Hopefully the Chief in Detroit isn't subject to the same trial by media that Chief Byrd received here when he bucked the system.

Alabama's Luther Strange is with Wyoming on that too... That my friends makes me proud to be a citizen of the great state of Alabama. We have some things to fix here but we are not far from the way things ought to be.
