Where to buy the grips of the 642 Ladysmith?
Hello,
I believed I had posted this thread yesterday but it appears to have vanished. Anyway.
I have a 642 but would very much like to be able to replace the grip with the beautiful grip on the 642 Ladysmith (642LS). Does anyone know Where I might be able to buy them? I would appreciate it if you could give me as many sites selling them as you know of so I might comparison shop. I am aware that S&W sells them, but I'd like to shop around.
Thanks!
Pano

Google it should pop up something, if you just like the wood grip over the rubber ones there are nicer grips than the ladysmiths for a comparable price

My wife picked a 642LS for her ccw. After the first trip to the range we bought a set of houge grips and haven't looked back. The rose wood grips look good but are too slick when shooting. If you know someone with them I recommend trying them out. If its just for looks go for it.

Yes, it's primarily for looks. My 642 is also my ccw, but I've fired J frames with wood grips and had no problems.
Google has nothing, believe it or not.
Anyone know?

Google the words: Altamont Smith and Wesson. You will see a link for "Altamont Company - Smith & Wesson" in the results. Click it.
On the resulting Altamont page check out their "S&W J Round Combat w/ S&W Medallions Checkered Super Rosewood" grips, pictured below.
I believe Altamont makes a lot of the OEM grips sold by S&W and installed on some of their newer revolvers. To my eye, these appear to match the S&W Lady Smith grips very closely.
Best of luck, sir.

Grips
You might try Darryl's Gun Shop , State Center Iowa. I stopped there a week ago and he had one display case full of NOS revolver grips of all makes, might take a while to dig through them but it looked like a treasure trove to me. I'm sure google will bring up the phone no. I don't have it . You will probably speak to Darryl's wife on the phone but she is very knowledgeable ,she knows more about guns than I ever will.
