Well if we're sharing bad jokes here's one I stole from Shuggart
When the Romans had conquered all of Europe and Britain, the Irish were afraid they'd be next; after all, they were much smaller than Britain. So the people went to the Druids to seek advice. The Druids held a conclave and came up with a solution to the problem.
Irish people; not soldiers, just ordinary people were sent to infiltrate the coast of Britain where the Romans were massing for their assault on Ireland. These people began spreading tales that all the healthy people were fleeing Ireland because it had become infested with leprosy! Now the Romans could beat armies, but leprosy was another matter altogether…and so they never invaded the small island, as history bears out.
This tactic worked so successfully, that from that day on, right up to the present, is has come to be referred to as…the "leper con"!
