Wife's first 1000yd shoot.
She's been wanting to try longer range shooting for a while, just never came out to do it before.
I think she's hooked.
The set up, Savage .243 w/ Shilen barrel and Night Force scope
I'm not running 1000 to check the target
A zoomed pic of the target (just Left of the truck)
Same place no zoom
Zoomed from the targets view
The target, note first Two ranging shots lower Right.
Getting the feel (only had to tell her once not to loop her thumb over the top)
On the bubble
And her target, 5 shots, upper Right was a flier (hey I do it too)
NOTE: dead center of bull is not a bullet hole, just a flaw in the sticky.
She really had a good time, and I had a great time taking her.
It really helps build confidence for her to know she can hit even at that range.
She would have hit a man size target at least 3 of her last 5.

Don't mess with the misses you can't run that fast to get out of range.
I love it a woman who likes guns and shoot too.
Did you teach how to breathe, take one deep breath let it out, take another breath, left it halfway out, hold and shoot?
I do it automatically now. It takes some of the wobble out of the sights. I also hold the rifle straight down in the rests.

Yup, she has an AR15 varmint rig she shoots out to 300, so she is familiar with most of the mechanics of it.
This was her first time out past 500 though.
She'd never shot using a level and the grip is somewhat different from an AR.

I'm really impressed.....
That's fantastic results, especially on a first time out.
More important to me is the fact that you and your wife can share and enjoy a similar interest, ESPECIALLY shooting.
I'm also impressed to see such good performance out of a Savage. For an 'affordable' rife they sure do a good job. If you can guess I have one, a model110. I couldn't SEE at that distance, much less shoot.

My hat is off to the both of you. Got an old post '64 model 70 match rifle and does get some stares from the younger set at the range. Does quite well with some old M72 '06 springfield ammo. Scope not irons. Frank

Very nice..........
Nice high tech equipment and a lady that likes to get into the longer shooting ranges, what's not to like.
That has to make for a very laid back and enjoyable day of shooting.
ah.........
maybe a pair of safety glasses on the next outing?
Stay safe.

Gives new meaning to "How far away before you are safe?" The answer is not, "1,000 yards" .
Excellent shooting.
