Wonderful news. You are going, she hopes. I went to Great Lakes when my son graduated 21 years ago. Go, have fun and be very proud, I'm sure she is.

I've been following baby wrench's progress through your posts and even though we've never met, I'm proud of her. The concept of basic warrior training being 'fun' is so foreign to me. I think that the young woman you see at graduation will not be the same young girl that left home. Congrats to her and to you.

Of course we are going! Paid for rooms...boarding the cat... Passing off music duties at church...vacuuming out the truck...yard banner delivered....cake ordered and paid. We leave two weeks from tomorrow. The neighbor with a gun is watching the house. The protocol is 1 shoot intruders 2 call us 3 call police

I'm happy that you are going, I promise that you wont regret it and it will mean a lot to her.
To me it was bigger than High School. Bigger than State track. Bigger than anything I had done up until then.
I wish my parents could have been there.

Yee Haww!!! Even though I have never met her, I too have watched with interest at her progress.
I'm so danged proud of your new Marine I could just jump up and down.
My Son is a Marine MSgt. presently stationed in Hawaii. I get swolled up like a poisoned pup every time I get to see him.
Graduation day will be long remembered by all of the Wrenches.

Thats one fine letter you got there Cap, and one fine soon-to-be Marine! I couldn't be happier for you and the family! So, has she gotten her EGA yet or is that next week?

You must be busting with pride. What a great accomplishment for Lil Wrench..and soon to serve as a Proud Marine. Have fun at the graduation.
You all will remember it for decades to come. No one came to my graduation from basic training in 1976. I survived the trauma but it would have been really nice.

The best sound a new Marine ever hears is the senior drill instructor dismissing the platoon for the final time. It will be a joyous day.

I was kinda wondering about how they prepped for the hurricane. The Corps got virtually all new structures after a hurricane in the early 1900's.
BTW, I know that because I read Commandant Vandergrifts autobigraphy. NOT because I was there.

We got more graduation info in the mail...ordering gifts and memorabilia... The schedule...
And a printed postcard from the engraving shop with instructions and hours to pick up. With this little note jotted under the address. Which made my cry. And I'm not one to wear heart on my sleeve...but...*sniff* my phone is blurry.

Are there limits on how many people can go? Looks like several of our bunch who live in that part of the world want to go to our daughters graduation.
