Default Andrew V. McLaglen - RIP

I just saw where Andrew V. McLaglen died on August 30. He was for a number of years the CBS staff director with 96 Gunsmoke episodes and 116 Have Gun - Will Travel episodes to his credit. He also directed the Jimmy Stewart movie Shenendoah, the John Wayne movies Cahill U.S. Marshall, Chisum, The Undefeated and Hellfighters. He was an assistant director on The Quiet Man. He was also the son of Victor McLaglen who played Maureen O'Hara's brother in The Quiet Man along with playing one of the sergeants in the John Ford/John Wayne cavalry trilogy.

RIP. Another link to the Hollywood greats gone.

Did not know who he was until now. What an impressive body of work. His father was one of my favorite character actors.
Thank you for sharing this.

I remember first realizing when he was related to victor--which was about 25 years ago. I had always wondered because of the Andrew "V" McLaglen moniker. He helped keep the Western alive and roaring.
