We've done favorite and best..but what do you think looks coolest on your hip? For an auto, I have to go with a blue steel Colt 1911 with ivory grips in either Commander or full size. Next would be a Browning hi-power. For a revolver, I would say (now remember all you N-fgrame nuts, CCW)...a 2 1/2" 19/66. And for something a bit smaller, the Detective Special.

I know I have been probley irritating some here with this picture of my nickle 2 1/2" python and Alphonso rig but I think its cool. I really should get some ivory with turquoise inlay grips though.

I need to get some leather for this one.

Please ID the holster. I hate having to beg for this info so often here. If you post it, tell us what it is and maybe where to get it. Better tell us about the grips and the gun, too.

I cant help myself. Top is a 25-2 and bottom is a 24-3. I have plain jane holsters but no fancy rig for these.

Same for this pair. 27-2 (with my name engraved by the company) and the 29-2 both in 5".

My .45 colt and .44 special colts demand attention too.

Nothing that I own and if I did It wouldn't carry it but to me a 5 in barrel Mauser Broom handle looks great

I don't suppose a Glock in a Fobus holster would rate too high in this thread.

The engraved 1911 with ivories is way back in the safe and I'd have to move a bunch of stuff to get it out.

No problem. It's just an inexpensive lined DeSantis thumb break scabbard. It was purchased on a closeout sale at Optics Planet.

The grips on that gun are Jay Scott oversized Troopers. In the top post I had simply thinned them and cut off the bottoms. On the second post I did a complete re-profiling and oil finish.

My first plain clothews revolver was the Colt Detective Special...They were a little more popular in the 60's than S&W..At least for a while..six shots vs. five and a little beefier frame...Later the Chief Special five shot caught up..Both were authorized. The one draw back was the exposed cylinder rod that could get bent. Both were adequate at the time. The three inch model later became more popular until the 2 1/2 inch Colt Diamond back was desired, but not as concealable...All three would be considered out of fashion by7 today's standards. Seemed fine for the time....

The 2.5" nickel M66, or the 3.5" pre-27. The pre-27 has new shoes - Kurac non-relieved targets - so that adds style points.

Buncha Plebians . . .

NOTHING beats the coolth (a term I learned from my mother) of the Vektor CP-1.
It's the "Battlestar Galactica" gun fer kryink out lout! And from "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!" Just nothing else like it.

BUT, to be honest, it's more of a barbeque gun. Careful maintenance is required to keep it reliable. It's needy. My S&W 1911Sc (pre-E)) requires MUCH less personal care to be a reliable shooter.

I mentioned the Colt Diamondback not to be confused by the Diamondback semi auto that looks like a small Glock...The original Diamondback by colt looked like a Python on a diet..Wasn't as smooth but not near as expensive either....Fast forward to present...Try to buy a Colt Diamondback Bring mucho bucks if you can find one....In the 60's they weren't that much,ut we didn't make as much either...The four inch was even being carried by uniform guys in those darned flap holsters...Didn't fit but the guys liked then..They did have a weird trigger return that show up on the range...Trigger had to be all the way released forward or they would lock tight...No problem if you let the trigger go forward to full extension. However you had to remember the trigger had to go to full extension before firing the next shot.Under normal conditions most guys didn't have a problem. The problem usually surfaced in rapid fire on the range......I guess the fact that Colt discontinued them so soon after their release makes them a collectors delight...Looked like a 5/8th scale Python..Not even close to as good as trigger as the Python, but for that matter not much did....Wish I had one now, as I wish I sill had a Python..Along with a few other long ago traded for the latest and greatest....I have never sold my Belgium BHP..(actions by T) Just passed up 1300..I did have to considered it...To smooth and to accurate, couldn't bring myself to sell..

a blue 19-3 2 1/2 inch, and/ or a 3 1/2 inch blue model 27. For a bottom feeder, it's gotta be a 1911, blue, Series 70, diamond grip panels, and custom sights.

I like the whole setup, right down to the Olivia cigars. Premium handgun, premium sticks. Just need a premium bourbon to go with it, and you are done!

BUT I APPRECIATE: the shape/lines, deep/rich bluing (OLDER COLTS), nicely grained wood, engraving, Ivory etc. One diminutive little pistol from a mfg'r of mostly pretty ugly guns (since concealed was mentioned) would be the Sig p232, sorry I don't know how to post pics.

None of mine are particularly cool, just functional. From left to right: Colt Combat Commander, S&W 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt with Spegels, Rock Island Armory 45, and slightly tweaked Colt Series 70.

My thoughts...small and easier to carry, more apt to be carried. ,Big and bulky easy to leave at home......Yesterday I saw the new Ruger SR series ultra small, good trigger and light and narrow...still has a reasonable grip...Didn't shoot it but it looks and feels good....Hard to beat the SW 3915 for ease of carry...the key word is CARRY not left in the safe or under the mattress etc.... I am as guilty as any one else..

"Cool" is different from pretty, or macho, or classic, or solidly reliable, or some of the other categories that are so attractively displayed here, IMHO.

A cool CCW is one that stays concealed, and nobody knows how cool it is except the owner and anyone he chooses to show it to.

It ain't a barbecue gun, beautiful as those are.

A cool CCW is one that, when drawn in self-defense, would cause the attacker to drop his own weapon to his side and exclaim, "Wow! Where did you find that?"

A cool CCW is one that, if the owner forgot he was carrying it, and passed through a metal detector at the courthouse, the deputies on duty would ooh and ahh over it before handing it back over to him and sending him on his way.

So, a cool CCW is one that's hard to define. It's one that, when you see it, you just "know" it's cool.

I don't have one yet, but when I find it, I'll get it!

Until then, I think a pearl handled nickel plated derringer drawn from the top of a thigh-high black silk stocking is about as close to fitting the bill as I can think of.

Finding a pistol like that might make me re-think my wardrobe....
