OK, I know this is a S&W forum but everyone seemed to think Rick is carrying a Colt Python.

And dancing around any spoilers...at one point he mentions, in the new season opener a .44 magnum.

So, either the writers don't know a Python is a .357 (most likely) or he is really carrying a Colt Anaconda .44.

Trivial pursuit perhaps but inquiring minds want to know. LOL

I thought that was weird, too. He told the Terminus hipster there was a .44 magnum in the buried bag (where his trademark Python was).

I love the show despite its many flaws. They do seem to slowly be getting a little better with gun stuff.

All the stuff I have seen (AMC forum, Walking Dead wiki, etc) say it is a Colt Python. So either it was a mistake by the writers or he also had a .44 magnum.

They got a blued smith from the guys on the highway when rick and Daryl were reunited. I'd have to go back and look, but if memory serves me right, I think michonne had it and shot one guy with it, so it is indeed possible for there to also be a .44 in that bag.
In one of the very first episodes, rick mentioned to Shane about Only having a couple rounds of .357 left for the python when they were rooting around in a bag.

ETA: found a pic online of the one I mention.

He coulda lied to the guys at TERMINUS...
I don't remember a machete with a red handle --- Then again I frequently can't remember if I had lunch.

it's a tv show...with zombies...things can't be perfect...and they are closer than many other shows...

he put his usual carry in the bag and pulled out the 1911 to take into terminus...i do believe that i saw another "michonne style katana" in the bag...my question is though...how did michonne have only the handle of the katana in the train car to make the double wood pig sticker?

I remember a few seasons ago he referred to it as 'The Python'. Cant remember if he was talking to Shane or Carl.

He mentioned several things that I didn't see in the bag. Think he was making more of it than it was to give a better reason for hiding it . . .

Personally starting early in last season it started looking more like he was carrying an anaconda than a python. I own one of each and have medium size hands and the anaconda looks huge in my hands and that was how it started looking last year while the previous seasons it looked more proportional.

So true, but noticing those little things and inconsistencies is part of the fun. Smushing zombie heads is so cliché don't ya think...

I think the "handle" that Michonne used to make her new weapon was the sheath (or whatever it is called) rather than the handle of the katana itself.

It would be boring but swords of varying types should be the weapons for all of them to start with. They need to raid a few antique stores...LOL The style and finesse as the group hacks and slashes it's way through the zombie hoards.

Oh man, I gotta get outside....perhaps to the range. Yea that's the ticket.

And to think that the show (as they said on The Talking Dead--is just starting to get interesting. Glad to se a character from season 1--the black guy who resued Rick) is coming into the picture now.

Remember they never mention ZOMBIE'S on the show. Walkers, bitters etc. but never zombies. I guess the leftover from terminus will reappear like the governor did. They should have listened to Rick and took them all out.

Yea the way they are killing off major characters they need to bring some back that aren't walkers.

Guess the opener set a new record for viewers. 17 million people watched it. The others don't know what they are missing. Lol.

I have not watched any program regularly since MASH (and I am not talking about reruns), but I have to admit that Walking Dead is slowly becoming something that I look forward to watching. Looks like a Python to me.

I'm always worrying he's gonna lose his Python out of that silly floppy holster he wears halfway down his thigh. And what's really bugging me the most:

I like to record it so I can watch it and rewind it to catch critical parts and rewind it and ... you get the picture.

Can't wait to see the machete with the red handle. Rick did dispatch the prison gang leader with a machete, but I can't remember if it had a red handle.

Did anyone notice the walker Carol stabbed on the railroad track at the start was blonde, had handcuffs dangling off one hand, had a bullet wound to the head and was wearing a grey/white striped top with what looked like a hoodie over it? When last seen before the gunshot is heard in Woodbury, Andrea had a handcuff dangling off one hand, was wearing a similar blouse/hoodie and was in the room where we heard but did not see her shoot herself. Maybe when she shot herself because of the walker bite, it wasn't a fatal wound and she turned anyway?

BTW, imfdb lists a model 29 and shows one of the survivors Darryl hooked up with, carrying the 29 in his waistband.

I don't think she should have been condemned in the first place. Rescuing the group at terminus should redeem her now. Rick was the guy who kicked her out and now he's giving her a big hug. I think she's back in. I really, really, really want to be a walker on the show. With my looks they'd save a lot of money on makeup. I could go on the set as-is.

As long as you realize you're forgetting these things you're OK. When somebody has to tell you what you're forgetting, then you need to get on some serious meds.

I like to look at the guns and figure out what they are but rarely get it right. I really want one of those that shoots all those rounds without reloading. The automatics they use are like the energizer bunny, they keep going and going and going.........

Persistent rumor had Colt bringing back the Python partially because of the show. I suppose they could "ret con" it into an Anaconda if that is being reintroduced.

I am waiting for Carol to start wearing around a mask made out of human skin and a necklace of ears.

not andrea, the group buried her when they returned to the prison. some people thought it might have been a tribute to her but...

from what i hear, she left the show on bad terms. she wasn't ready to leave, but she was a favorite of frank durabont. when he was ousted, she wasn't happy about it and let it be known often. she wasn't liked by the show runners and they would not put a tribute to her into the show.

I found the bottle-rocket detonation of the LPG tank a bit hard to swallow, but...ya gotta work with what you got, LOL. Other than that, glad to see the 'core' made it outta there okay.

I thought the bottle rocket LPG detonation was the bomb

When I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be about Rick's NeverEmptyAK-47. That's a rifle I'd like to own!

I started watch "The Living Dead" on "Netflix" yesterday of boredom.
Today I am in season 2. Several questions arose in m mind (lots of empty spaces).
1. why "Rick" sticks with a six shot revolver in Georgia "Land of Glock" when the "Walkers are behind every tree, sign post, and building.
2. On the way to Atlanta, the farmhouse had the residents DOA from suicide, there was a Remington Model 10 shotgun next to a body, why not take it and any other ordnance ?
3. At the Sheriffs Department, where the three took hot showers, was Rick's gun belt found in supply and not the one He had when shot > This might explain why a six inch Python is carried in a service holster for a four inch revolver.
4. The survival camp outside Atlanta, how did these folks get together and camp together ?
(should I get a hobby for my down time instead of watching TV ?)

Several times in the series, Rick and Shane both referred to it as a Python. He may of stated a .44 which wasn't shown.

Well at least they didn't do the standard....... just shoot tank to blow it up...... " Myth Busters"...... dispelled that after that James Bond movie where he blew up a tank by shooting it with a Browning HP

Jimmy, from what I've heard around here regarding the show
1. Andrew Lincoln, the Brit who plays Rick, loves that Python. Reportedly, the only time they can get it away from him is if they script calls for it or it's time to lock the arms away for the night. He has used other handguns in the show but that's his favorite.
2. I thought he took the shotgun. I know he collected the big bag of guns he had when he rode in to Atlanta. If you look real close you can see that a lot of the long guns in that bag are wood.
3. I don't think they addressed that at all. But most likely he collected the belt and speed loaders at the station.
4. In the graphic novels (comic books) Dale picked Andrea and Amy up on the way to Atlanta but couldn't get into the city for the walkers so they camped on the outskirts. Other survivors gradually wandered into the camp including Shane, Lori and Carl along with Carol and her family. Then finally Rick. In the show, the quarry was used because it's only a couple of miles over behind Georgia Tech and they were shooting downtown at that time. It's city property and easy to keep the public away from shooting.

Hope that helps.

A guy I used to work with has a 6 inch Python that looks just like the one from the show. He told me he needed money not that long ago and I told him since he never uses the gun he should sell it. Not to me because I couldn't afford it in a dream world but I know between the show and the fact its a Python they bring good money. It's still there in the box as far as I know. I think in something like 20 years he told me if it went though a box of ammo that was a lot. The Python was never my thing, to me the grip angle is a bit wrong, but hey it was nice to see a bit of old school flavor when they did the show with it.

I can’t help but answer these in my own opinion years later. I think it’s because you use whatever gun your most comfortable with. It’s like in a video game. You use the weapon you are the best at and the most comfortable with even tho it might not be the most powerful.

I think this is alluding to the famous red machete that gets passed from person to person in the Walking Dead World. The Red Machette is a digital series spin off from the WD show. When I heard him mention that it just made me think oh “ Does Rick have the infamous red machete in his bag?”

Wink THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE.

The last time I went to an indoor range the macho guy, showing off for his Bimbo with his plastic fantastic doing mag dumps at 5 yards missing most & having his laser going all over like a disco ball made a snide remark to her about me & my 681, that "I must watch too much walking dead". A real gun expert.

Like Jimmy I just started to watch the show on Netflix, or Amazon or some such channel. I got through one season and didn't get my big question answered.

WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?

Rick got shot. He was in the hospital, apparently not for a long time since his wound hadn't healed, yet from somewhere this plague of walkers had started, civilization had collapsed, some major battles had been fought and lost, and the cities looked like they'd been abandoned for years.

And if Rick even asked the question, I missed it.

Still a pretty good show. My wife grips every time I start it, then sits there in rapt attention watching.
