Default Gun Show report - Lexington

We went yesterday and it was packed. But I didn't buy or sell anything at all. Except for a MRE, one of the chicken breasts. It was the first time in years I saw one split out of the box. Its normally the first one that gets picked off.

So today started pretty good. My partner was already making sales when I got there. Then as time went on he sold some ammo, a gun, and some gun rugs. Not huge, but a good enough day to please him. Then I started selling. I made a huge $3 profit on some 22s. But the next thing I sold was an old chemical balance scale. To me it was clutter, but the buyer wanted it.

And a guy came along with a 39-2 and we got together at $425, 2 mags and a gun rug. Its clearly shooter grade, but a nice gun. A guy came along with a 3 letter prefix K22. He wanted to trade, and I'm not in the habit of getting the short end. The guy next to us had a Marlin in Stainless. It was a .45-70 and I bet 100 people looked at it, but no one bought it. A shame, but someone will buy it eventually. A guy was selling a really flashy 629-4 that he'd polished to a mirror finish. He wanted $875 for it, but I didn't see the sale price. The guy with the .45-70 bought it. Another guy came along wanting my nickel 19. He had a nice 1918 vintage 1911. He wanted boot, which I didn't want to pay (but to be fair, it could have worked). My oldest son spotted a guy with a Browning 100 year .30-06 Commemorative. It had nice wood, but he wanted $1800 which was way more than it was worth (I think). Besides, it had a bunch of gold plating on the HiWall action. Not any more ugly than any other gold plating. Yesterday a guy was trying to sell a Weatherby .338-378. He wanted $1400 and that was too rich for me. Besides, its a brute. Another guy came along with a .32-20 for $500. Shooter grade due to a refinish. No reloading booths to speak of. If you're looking, you had to find small private booths. It also means no powder to speak of.

Due to family issues I could not make it today. Now the big question rburg are you gonna be there on Sunday? I am going to make it there when it opens.

Not tomorrow. Two days were enough for me. It was fun but I'm out of money. We've got the Louisville show in 2 weeks.

I don't know, Ben. I didn't get very far away from our table today, so I didn't see it. I did tip off the other gun hawk about it. He did buy the 29 and got it for $525. I think he reads here, don't know if he posts. I thought you were coming today. I brought along the scale but since you weren't there, we put it up for sale.

Just got back home and ate before telling my tell. I went this morning and was not crowded at all. Still alot of people didnt have their tables uncovered yet. looked around twice checked out the books that was spread all over. Saw a few 22lr rifles around the 100 dollar range. Some ammo prices was just out of the world high. Two boxes of Remington Thunderbolts for 15.00 fifty count. Another dealer had CCI 22 for almost 15.00 per hundred. Other than that I told my Daughter who refused to go with me today that she didnt miss anything at all. Other than getting away from Family issues it was a show not great by no means but a show. Maybe one day rburg and I will meet up and talk. If he really even exists. I am starting to have my doubts. Either way one day we will meet. Have to its on my bucket list now.

Ask Lee.

The show was pretty good Friday and Saturday. We are going to the Louisville show on Saturday, only. What we've discovered is that the Louisville show is a lot more fun with no responsibility. We're not displaying, or at least as it stands now. We're just going to look and buy. It means we'll need a center of operations (a place to dump our coats and junk). That will either be under Brenda's table, Doublesharps, or David Carroll's.
