Default I changed my avatar

How many of you guys recognize a poster by their avatar first, screen name second? I'm guilty...

I usually do, but I do change mine frequently.
Reminds me, I'm due. Out with the Christmas and on to the New year.

Yes, I generally recognize the avatar first and name second. It's not unusual though. We tend to learn better visually.

That said, I have never changed my avatar. It's too important to me and too important a cause.

I know a few dozen folks by their avatars first.

I, like a few members, have changed mine a handful of times since joining.

I like mine: I wore that insignia on my hat for 20 years. Haven't considered changing it.

I scarcely even notice those things. And the important detail in them is very often too small for recognition anyway(for ME it is). For years I seriously thought that one member's was a grotesque image from some horror movie. Then one day I looked more closely at it and discovered it was several revolvers lying on a rug and arranged like human features.

On all forums, most users don't have a pronounceable screen name, usually just a series of letters and numbers that only mean something to them.

I guess I am not guilty after thinking about it. I mostly look at the members user id and don't pay much attention to the avatar. I have never changed mine but I thought about it one time. With the new year comes lots of changes.

Never thought about it 'til you mentioned it. Put my old alma mater's badge there. Lived with one on for 30 years....

Kozmic's avatar is way prettier than he is.

But then, so is mine....

I changed mine once, from me holding a gun to me holding a tomahawk.
Why? Dunno, just felt like it.

I added my first avatar today, along with making my annual contribution to the forum. That's my great uncle Billy in 1891 - Texas cowboy, sheriff, and gunfighter. It is his Model 3 .44 that started me down the slippery SW slope, so his likeness is a fitting avatar.

Mine is a constant reminder of one of THE best pets we ever had....Old Mr. Wiley. He's long gone. But nice to see him here when I pass one of my posts.
