Exclamation Anyone here a fan of those: Carry On movies?

Allmy life I had heard of the Carry On movies liek: Carry on Sergeant, Carry on Doctors,Carry on Constable etc--but never had see any--that is--untill I unexpectedly stumbled on one that TCM was playing yesterday. I went into it after it started--and what i was able to watch--had my sides splitting with all the laughter. Ihad not know what the name of the movie was unil a friend of mine in St' Albans Eng--told me what it was.

Well, that said, im officially a fan of them thar British made movies and will be seeking DvD info on them.

BTW--if any here liked those Carry On movies--you will also like: Invasion Quartet--another British made masterpiece. One of many things I admire about our buddies across the pond--is their sense of humoUr...

BTW, the one I saw on TCM yesterday--was: Carry on Constable. This one easily beats any of those Police Academy movies by a good stretch. I liked the fisrst coupleof those but--Carry on Constable--was superior.

One of the best British comedies ever has to be Only Fools and Horses. It's your typical old school British humor.

As a kid I saw a few of these on TV, but haven't seen one in years. Very British humor. Some at least were very funny.

I agree about Invasion Quartet. Great movie. I've seen one Carry On - Carry On Cowboy. Not very good, but I kinda think that was because the Brits just don't GET cowboy.

I have - but have not watched yet - Carry On Up the Khyber. It sounded interesting, and they SHOULD get the Khyber Pass, but just ain't got around to watchin' it.

I hate to admit it, but I do like British comedies. I think my favorite is "The Fast Lady" with James Robertson Justice. Jimmy Justice was heavily involved in British motorsports pre-WW2, and he plays one of The Bentley Boys in the movie.

Heh heh, reminds me of Easterns--that is--Czech made Westerns which are the worst of the worst ever made. The Czechs can make great war movies--but know zilch about the wild west.

Forgot to mention--look up John Alderson, he is a Brit and made many westerns--TV shows only I think? You could still hear his accent in a couplebut--he didnt do too badly. Same for John Mills--he was one of the leading stars in: Chucka--payed a Cavalry Officer with Ernest Borgnine as one of his Sergeants. Jim Dale--did afew Disney and other westerns--but they were comedies so wasnt bad but not great either.
