Did you collect these as a kid?
I still have my Marvel comics from 1967-1969. This picture was for a photo contest on another gun forum, but I won't, uh hmm, mention which one it was here. Sorry, but they didn't have a "Smith & Wesson Kid" comic book. Do you still have some of yours if you collected them?

I did. I had quite a collection of those and many other Western titles including: Jonah Hex, Scalphunter etc. I loved the art as most were done by the likes of Joe Kubert, Russ Heath, Jack Kirby and John Severin.
As most of my comic book collection has long since been stolen--all I have left are the War Comics--many of which are now worth loads of money.

I've never seen those......
I've never seen (or noticed) "Kid Colt". Or just maybe I don't remember? And I wish I knew which ones to keep and which to throw away. We are inundated with trash here. I've GOT to let some stuff go. I also wish I'd kept more of my National Lampoons and Mad Magazines. "The Inferior Five" were a short run that I'd like to have kept." I think I bought one off of Ebay. I think I have a full complement of the 'Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers' now but I learned not to lend them because dope heads would always steal them.

This thread makes me want to cry. As a kid I was hooked on Batman and had many, many nice comics-they were all boxed and organized by date. In 1968 we moved from N.J. to Arizona and my mom threw them all out. The "fun" part was that I was given an original Detective Comics # 27 from 1939 which was The Bat-Man's first appearance. My folks had very good friends that owned a drug store, the husband was also a collector and had given me that comic as he knew how much I liked it. He would find comics that were "firsts" and grab a few to hold on to.
I eventually got one of the many reprints but it obviously never even came the tiniest close to the value of the one thrown out.
Years later I would "torture" my mom by telling her how much some of those comics would've been worth-yeah I was a rotten son LOL. We would just laugh about it because it was more fun than crying haha.
I could have a whole bunch of really nice S&Ws with what I could've sold it for.

I have a few comics from the 60's but they are pretty thrashed as I had to share everything back then with my brothers. Then in the early 80's i got back in to comic books and have about a 100 or so from that period, most are worth about $2, some more.
I was doing a remodel here in Portland about 10 years ago and had a dumpster out on the street. every morning I would check to see what the neighbors had thrown in as that really irritated me. I would paw through what the stuff illegaly thrown in the dumpster hoping to find the culprits name or address written on something. One morning I came across a dozen Star Trek Comic books in the dumpster and took them home to read. 3 years ago the Antique Road Show came to Portland and I took one of the Star Trek in for an appraisal among some other things. Turns out the Star Trek comic was worth nearly $200.
Some times it pays to go through the dumpsters.
