Son makes E7!
Newest Sgt. 1st class in the Army. Looks like he's going back to Gitmo for another year pretty soon. He and I are bothe Lifetime NRA members, only difference is he can still hit what he's aiming at.

Finally, his stresk of bad luck ended last fall. There's a mandatory class one must take in order to get this promotion, and it's only offered once a year. For three years he was unable to take it, twice deployed, once because he fell off a ladder and was not able to attend the class. I believe he was E6 for eight years!

Sounds like NCO Advanced Course. Can be tough to get to the course if you are stuck in a desert. (I hate desert) Congrats on the new stripe.

Congratulations for a job well done. As a retired LtCol I learned early in my career that NCOs are the backbone of the services. NCOs saved my bacon more than once and in more ways than one.
