A very strange thing just happened to me. I attempted to bid on a S&W m-26-1 on GB, and got a message that the seller had blocked me from bidding. What in the world is the meaning of that! Have you ever heard of such a thing before, I certainly never did. I sent him a question asking him to unblock me, but so far no answer. I am bumfuzzled!

The auction ends in a little more than 1 hour, maybe he will respond to my question in time.I have good feedback, so I can't figure out what might be wrong.

I'm sure if you really want the gun, you will figure out how to bid on it further. If what you do to accomplish that is timely done.

Sellers set their profiles for items they are selling to exclude many things such as any or a percentage of negative feedback, or a potential bidder has to have a minimum amount of positive feedback. Or a seller can set up a block for any bidder who has an address they don't ship to, or may have any policy violations recorded. I doubt the seller blocked you specifically. Maybe he'll reply to your message?

I'm blocked by GB!

I bought guns off of GB for years but never sold any.

Now that I'm officially old I decided I need to cut back on my collection so I got on GB and started through the registration process for sellers.

When I got to the part that said they were going to charge me a monthly fee whether I was selling or not, I stopped and tried to back out.
I thought I had, but they started emailing me monthly saying I owed them money and I was locked out until I pay up!

My emails have been ignored.

Apparently, they are making so much money they don't need my business. That's OK, it seems every other business under the sun as well as the government wants all of my money, anyway. Haha

I wonder if it is really the seller or is it GB that blocked you?

While I think it's rude for a seller not to respond to a legit question, some folks aren't really in business at all, and others are in business to such a degree they simply don't find the time nor do they apparently care to respond. It would be an awfully nice service of auction sites to automatically provide YOU with the information up front: a little symbol next to the seller's name indicated that seller has blocked you.

Technically, that should be easy to do--and it could save everyone a lot of time. I know when I was more active on eBay I always had to deal with ensuring folks knew I didn't ship to Canada--at the time I didn't know how to block bidders for any reason.

Well I watched my mail and never received an answer from the seller, so I was not able to bid on the gun. Very strange!

For both of you had concerns I would call tomorrow.

I am blocked from bidding on GB as well for using the Tor browser to log into my GB account. They sent me a nasty message about ToS violations that I had no idea I broke, simply by using an anonymous browser to log into a not anonymous account . To hell with GB.

As a seller on GB, you can set the auction conditions to block buyers with negative feedback or no feedback. Sounds like the seller set one or both of those blocks. You'll have to ask yourself if one of those pertain to you. Good luck.

Wow, news to me, hasn't tripped me up yet but I'll have to make sure I'm not connected to any private VPN/torguard anytime I go there from now on. Thanks for the info.

Is it possible that if they can block bids that they also block emails from the same username?

They probably block anonymous browsers so you can't create a second fake account and bid up your auctions. I tried that once (two accounts, two usernames... but not to bid up my own items (haven't even tried to sell anything yet anyway)). They caught on after a few days, took some back and forth for them to reopen the one they closed and close the one they left open. PITA.

I can't use GB because I wouldn't give them more personal info they wanted. They really did me a favor. Saved several dollars.

How is the sellers rating????

How is the sellers rating? Have they sold a lot of guns to gruntled customers? Hope you get it fixed.

PS I had a legitimate reason to have two usernames on another site as I was maintaining an account for a semi invalid friend of mine. Of course that bought me all kinds of grief.
