Default Peter Gunn

I've been enjoying watching this old series on ME TV. I have to say that Mr.Gunn is the epitome of the cool 50's detective!
Was he our version of cool before Mr. Bond hit the big screen? PPK versus the Detective Special?
Let's see he has a pretty cool hang out called "Mothers" a jazz club,( the theme from this is one of my ring tones)
He has a good looking girlfriend named Eadie, and she sings! The cars, you gotta love the cars, tonight a 61 Plymouth Fury ragtop!
And of course he puts the name behind Detective Special!
Well anyway I'm enjoying it! When TV was good!

I think his secretary is Mary Tyler Moore. All you see is her legs.

I remember the series. Seems there used to be TV worth watching.

Unless it varied over several seasons, he used a S&W Chief Special, not a Colt. I saw the show as a kid and even owned the theme music record, which showed the gun clearly on the record cover.

I think Lola Albright was the girl singer who liked Peter.

Edie was indeed played by Lola Albright. She could really sing and recorded 2 albums (one backed up by Henry Mancini and his orchestra). She is now 90 and has been retired since the 1990's.
She was in a lot of TV and was the co-star to Elvis in the (thoroughly forgettable) movie Kid Galahad. If you were as fond of her as I was, look up an old flick called Lord Love a Duck. It was a silly Tuesday Weld/Roddy McDowell farce but it had a wonderful scene with Lola as Tuesday's mom. You might be amazed at her acting chops.

Two other tidbits:
The city that Peter and Edie inhabited was never mentioned (but it had a waterfront).
The TV show that displayed Mary Tyler Moore's legs (only) was Richard Diamond, Private Investigator. Her character was "Sam" and MTM played her for only the first seven episodes.

I watch him also.

Me TV is the best TV.

We also have another called THIS with very similar broadcasts.

I'm still living in the past, have no idea about any of the new stuff being shown.

Funny thing. I remember being terrified by something about Peter Gunn when I was a kid. No idea what.

Default Mother.....

Mother plays and sings too, but whatever style she does, I hate it. Much rather listen to Lola Albright.

I liked this program enough that when I got out of high school I bought a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible!

Those shows were great I remember them well. One of my favorite shows was I believe called ‘'Tightrope"!

A undercover cop (Mike Connors) had a small revolver carried in the small of his back and he was frisked many times(most every show) but always seemed to sneak his gun into anyplace he went. The bad guys were ready to kill him and he made a fast draw and always got out alive.

He had better be fast. After all--his real daddy was: The Rifleman.

Default Well, the theme music......

The theme music was more than what we were used to in those days. I could see how that driving beat with the blaring horns could put off a kid. And a lot of the action took place at night so it was literally a 'dark' show.

I was watching those on METV and besides a lot of laughs there was something in about every show that made me roll on the floor.

"I am....the CRAW"

"Oh, I see, the Craw"

"No, not the Craw, the CRAW!

"Oh yes, the Craw"

And so forth.

And the 'Cone of Silence' and the "Portable Cone of Silence" "AW MAX THAT NEVER WORKS!"

And Barbara Feldon was SO CUTE!

If I remember correctly, the opening scene of the show was a ominous swirling ocean on a beach front and in black & white. kinda caught me hiding behind the couch as a 7 yr. old.
